Purpose of the role

We are seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Head of Commercial Strategy to lead and grow our premium finance proposition and maximise Zego’s non-risk income. This is a high-impact position responsible for driving the commercial success of Zego.

You will also be responsible for shaping the strategic direction of our finance offering, building strong internal and external relationships and ensuring we remain compliant with all relevant credit and regulatory frameworks.

Outside of premium financing, you will be responsible for identifying and maximising other revenue streams such as ancillary products.

What you will be doing:

Strategy & Commercial Development

  • Establish robust performance metrics and oversee commercial KPIs, ensuring revenue targets and profitability goals are achieved.
  • Define and deliver the premium finance strategy aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Lead product innovation and competitive positioning in the insurance premium finance space.

Risk Management & Underwriting

  • Oversee credit risk and underwriting policies across personal and commercial finance products.
  • Ensure compliance with internal risk frameworks, FCA regulations, and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles.
  • Chair or participate in relevant credit committees and risk governance forums.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management
Collaborate cross-functionally with legal, compliance, finance and product teams.

  • Represent the company in industry events, roundtables, and strategic partnerships.

What you will need to be successful

  • In-depth knowledge of UK premium finance regulatory landscape (FCA, consumer credit, affordability).
  • Strong background in underwriting, credit policy, or product risk.
  • Excellent commercial acumen with experience in launching and scaling financial products.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage senior stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • You will be someone who’s actively curious about how AI can enhance your work - keen to experiment, learn quickly, and apply tools that improve productivity, streamline tasks, or unlock new ways of thinking. Whether you’re already hands-on or fast building confidence, you take ownership of staying ahead and working smarter.
  • Proven senior leadership experience in premium finance, insurance lending, or financial services.
