Role Overview

Bridewell’s Head of Internal Operations oversees the internal functions that enable the organisation to attract, deploy, and retain high‑performing talent while maintaining a robust governance and compliance framework. This role is accountable for HR operations, talent acquisition, people processes, and compliance oversight. The ideal candidate is an experienced operator who brings structure, clarity, and rigour to people‑centric functions and ensures the organisation has the right capabilities, systems, and controls to scale responsibly.

What you’ll be responsible for:

HR Operations & People Processes

  • Oversee the design, maintenance, and continuous improvement of core HR processes (onboarding, offboarding, performance management, employee relations, policies, and HRIS).
  • Establish and maintain consistent people operation standards across the organisation.
  • Ensure the People Business Partners are providing an effective service to the wider business.
  • Ensure the approach undertaken across the company for HR, aligns with Bridewell’s values and culture.
  • Ensure that the processes within the HR function support and train managers on managing performance and to identify and develop rising stars.

Culture/Retention/Engagement

  • Proactively seek new and innovative ways to ensure Bridewell’s culture and employee engagement is the best it can be.
  • Periodically benchmark remuneration and benefits and propose a remuneration strategy to the CFO annually for review.
  • Bring new and innovate ideas to support a highly engaged workforces that has a positive culture.

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

  • Work with the Talent Acquisition Manager and wider recruitment team to ensure the recruitment strategy and approach is enabling Bridewell to delivery its targets regarding headcount.
  • Work with Bridewell’s Head of Marketing and wider stakeholders to ensure the employee value proposition is clear and is able to support the attraction and retaining of talent.
  • Define strategy for promoting the employer brand to the external market
  • Ensure recruitment processes are efficient, fair, compliant, and deliver strong candidate experience.

Learning and Development

  • To own and report against the learning and development activities and the return on investment from the training budgets.
  • To maximise the internal delivery of training to address skill shortages and the business’ key priorities to manage quality and develop a training curriculum that meets the business’ needs.
  • Support development of an academy to facilitate the recruitment and advancement of graduates.
  • Define and introduce succession planning programme for the next phase of the organisation’s development.
  • Ensure the approach to career progression is effective, understood by the business and aligned with the business’ culture and values.

Compliance function Management

  • To line manage the Compliance team on a day to day basis.
  • To work with the Head of the BMS and CFO to identify the strategy for each year and to oversee the day to day delivery of the project.
  • To facilitate strong cross team working relationships with IT, HR and Compliance functions and to act as an escalation point for any blockers.
  • The Head of the BMS will still manage the technical elements of the accreditations

Requirements
  • Demonstrable significant hands-on experience across HR Operations, Talent Acquisition, Compliance or Internal Operations.
  • Strong understanding of employment law, HR compliance, and people governance.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop cross‑functional processes, frameworks and relationships.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills; comfortable with people data and operational KPIs.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).

Location: Bridewell operates a hybrid and flexible working policy, however you will be required to travel to different sites on occasion.
