At Thredd,we’re seeking a strategic and hands-on Head of Financial Platforms to lead the vision, design, and delivery of our core fintech capabilities across a diverse product portfolio.You’ll define and execute the long-term platform strategy, ensuring our infrastructure is secure, resilient, and aligned to commercial goals. Operating at the intersection of Engineering, Product, and Operations, you’ll drive seamless integration of platform capabilities into customer-facing solutions while enabling innovation and sustainable growth.
What you'll be doing as a Head of Financial Platforms
- Anchor platform strategy and delivery to measurable client and business outcomes, balancing ambition with stability and feasibility.
- Define clear platform metrics and use data to expose risk, unblock delivery, and drive informed prioritisation.
- Evolve scalable, resilient financial platforms (Ledger, Cards, Credit, Identity) with strong architectural discipline and pragmatic technology adoption.
- Set clear priorities aligned to strategy and capacity, leading cross-functional trade-offs to maximise impact.
- Own platform stability, security, and performance, proactively managing technical, operational, and vendor risk.
- Align platform execution to long-term commercial goals, strengthening capability while avoiding short-term compromise.
- Build strong platform leaders who can execute at pace in complex, high-pressure environments.
- Collaboration & Operational Excellence Strengthen cross-team alignment, clarify ownership, and actively manage dependencies to improve delivery maturity.
- Communicate transparently, surface risks early, and align expectations across technical and business stakeholders.
- Remove blockers, manage shifting priorities, and take full ownership of delivery outcomes and risk resolution.
- Translate company strategy into clear platform goals and lead change with minimal disruption, protecting stability while driving continuous improvement.
What you'll bring to the Head of Financial Platforms role
- Strong understanding of platform architecture and production-grade fintech systems.
- Hands-on familiarity with Ledger and Account Management, Cards Issuing and Processing, Credit, Identity Management, and Client Onboarding.
- Deep understanding of scalability, resilience, security, and operational reliability.
- Strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, DevOps practices, and observability.
- Working understanding of data platforms and financial data flows.
- Ability to assess technical designs and challenge solutions that will not scale or perform.
- Sound judgment when introducing new technologies to avoid unnecessary complexity.
- Proven experience leading financial or fintech platforms in production environments.
- Experience overseeing complex, high-availability systems.
- Strong understanding of financial operations and platform dependencies.
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, evolving environments.
- Experience managing managers and senior technical leaders.
- Track record of building accountable, high-performing teams.
- Ability to align technical execution with business priorities.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity while maintaining delivery momentum.

This Head of Financial Platforms position requires you to be in the London office (Holborn) two days per week.
