The Head of Delegated Authority (DA) oversees and manages all delegated authority agreements across IGI. This includes the end-to-end management of new and renewal binders, ensuring contract certainty, robust governance, and compliance with regulatory and internal policies.
The role will also drive operational excellence, ensuring the development of a standard operating model for DA within IGI, encompassing minimum operating requirements, contract certainty, onboarding and renewal processes, change management, and effective team leadership. This is critical in strengthening underwriting control frameworks while supporting IGI’s growth strategy through efficient and scalable DA operations.Job Description

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for the day-to-day management, oversight and development of Delegated Authority Risk Management and Binding Authority management.

1. Delegated Authority Oversight & Governance
  • Lead the end-to-end lifecycle management of all DA agreements (including in scope Line Slips / Consortia).

  • Develop and implement an IGI-wide DA operating model, including contract certainty, governance controls, and minimum operating requirements.

  • Ensure all delegated underwriting arrangements comply with internal controls, regulatory requirements (Lloyd’s, FCA, PRA), and market best practices.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for brokers, carriers, and internal stakeholders on DA-related matters.

  • Oversee due diligence, approval, and onboarding processes for new agreements and TPAs.

  • Identify Third party material issues (TPMI) and reporting.

2. Operational & Process Management
  • Standardise and implement robust operating procedures across IGI for DA oversight and management.

  • Drive efficiencies and automation in DA workflows, leveraging technology and data analytics to enhance reporting and performance monitoring.

  • Ensure contract issuance, endorsements, letters of authority and underwriting appetite/underwriting guides are handled effectively and align with compliance and financial reporting requirements.

  • Work with Compliance, Finance, and Underwriting teams to embed risk controls and change management frameworks.

  • Oversee Bordereau data management, including the delegation and escalation of data validation checks.

  • Responsible for ensuring all Coverholder and TPA’s provide appropriate data to allow IGI to meet its Consumer duty reporting requirements including fair value assessments.

  • Responsible for managing all run-off requirements as required.

3. Consumer duty and Product Governance
  • Responsible for ensuring all Coverholder and TPA’s provide appropriate data to allow IGI to meet its Consumer duty reporting requirements including fair value assessments

  • Prepare and present annual Fair Value Statements to meet FCA/PRA regulatory requirements.

4. Stakeholder & Market Engagement
  • Manage key relationships with brokers, coverholders, TPA’s,  and regulators.

  • Chair the DA Committee’s, ensuring the appropriate information is produced and distributed in line with committee agenda.

  • Member of the Conduct Oversight Group

  • Represent IGI in DA market forums, industry working groups, and regulatory discussions.

  • Regularly update senior leadership on DA performance, risk exposure, and operational improvements.

5. Audit Oversight
  • Manage the Audit function for delegated arrangements, ensuring approved auditors are appointed and appropriate audits scopes are undertaken in line with IGI’s risk based audit approach.

  • Ensure all audit reports are reviewed and all findings are closed off within acceptable timeframes.

  • Any high risk findings to be escalated to the DAC.

6. Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead and develop a team across both UK and Jordan offices, ensuring clear objectives, structured training, and ongoing professional development.

  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture, driving accountability and excellence in DA management.

  • Required to travel to Amman HQ, providing the DA and BDX team focused one to one time, providing training sessions and guidance.

Role Requirements
  • Knowledge of MS applications and the ability to use MS Excel to an intermediate/advanced level.

  • The ability to complete work to a high standard whilst maintaining SLA’s and KPI’s.

  • High level of attention to detail with the ability to work though high levels of data whilst remaining focused.

  • Professional approach with the capability to seamlessly interact with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Flexibility with the ability to adapt to business requirements and change approach if required to find creative solutions when issues occur.

Key Attributes & Professional Qualifications
  • A minimum of 10 years’ Delegated Authority experience

  • Bachelors degree.

  • A keen interest in own self professional development.  ACII/Dip CII qualified preferred, as well as regularly attending training events to continue their own professional development.

  • General computer literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Strong team player who is also able to work on own initiative within authority limits.

  • Excellent attention to detail in order to maintain accuracy of data and file records.

  • Customer focused, providing excellent customer service skills both internally to the team, as well as with external stakeholders.

  • The candidate needs to be a self-starter, who can manage high volumes during busy periods and has can take and execute instructions and meet deadlines.  Must work well under pressure and be able to prioritise tasks.

  • Excellent Interpersonal skills:  active listener, purposeful communication, confident interaction, and ability to work within a team.
