Are you a social video expert who knows how to attract audiences through multimedia content? Are you keen to play a pivotal role in the success of some of the most iconic news brands in the UK? We are looking for a Head of Daily Video to join our Reach Studio team.
This is a unique opportunity to work with our national and regional news brands including but not limited to The Mirror, Daily Express, Manchester Evening News and many more. You will manage the department creating all video content for all Reach sites and social media platforms, to ensure multimedia content is produced in line with overarching strategies.
Reach Studio launched last year and is a unique blend of editorial and commercial talent, serving multimedia content to both our audiences and advertising partners. Our dynamic team is made up of highly skilled producers, editors, designers and social media experts. Reach Studio has already launched a variety of branded content and podcasts including the Daily Express’ On the Edge vodcast exploring gritty true crime stories and The Division Bell, a political podcast featuring lively debate from insiders on both sides. From developing existing podcasts to producing new video shows and formats that our huge social audiences will love, we want you to join us for what's next.
This is a hybrid role linked to our Canary Wharf Hub in London (working from the hub at least 3 times per week), we are therefore open to candidates based in and around London.
Job Description
What will the role involve?
You will assign content to your team of video editors and journalists, managing the on-day diary and forward scheduling of video content across brands, keeping everything organised. You will manage both the on-site and social video teams, maintaining rotas and planning schedules to cover needs. Attending meetings with senior stakeholders, you will represent video interests and provide updates, delivering regular reports on progress and output, offering insights into performance.
You will play an integral part in editorial conferences and forward planning, collaborating with other editorial and commercial departments. You will shape content strategies, ensuring seamless video distribution by maintaining efficient processes. You will train new starters and team members, ensuring your team’s video skills remain on the cutting edge. The typical working pattern is Monday to Friday but some flexibility for major events is required.
Qualifications
Who are we looking for?
You are a master of organisation, renowned for your ability to keep schedules running smoothly and efficiently. You have demonstrable experience in video editing and producing, where you've expertly utilised platforms like JW Player, Primis, and Wochit to craft captivating content. You ideally have a journalism background and NCTJ (or equivalent) qualification. You are an accomplished people manager with proven experience managing large creative teams. You have a sharp news sense and an expert understanding of the ever evolving social media landscape.
Throughout your career, you've been a catalyst for change, driving the implementation of streamlined processes and structural improvements that leave a lasting impact. Your passion for multimedia storytelling is evident in every project, as you combine technical proficiency with analytical literacy to fuel innovation and enhance efficiency. Your detailed understanding of legal and copyright issues, along with social media platforms and algorithms, will guide you in prioritising and producing successful content.
