Your new role - Head of Content Acquisition, Global Studios

You will play a key role in developing our third-party content strategy from a commercial perspective, working with the sales team to understand the content needed to grow our podcast revenues and form an acquisition strategy around this. You will have a passion for podcasts, and a broad understanding of the wider podcast market, and have experience working in sales leadership role with a focus on generating new business. As podcasts become shows – available in video and audio, you will have full appreciation of what makes a podcast successful, how it grows, and the tactics employed to reach an even wider audience outside the show.

You’ll be lead our pitching process, creating compelling reasons why creators should choose to join Global Studios over other competitors. This includes the end-to-end process, overseeing everything from strategy, market collateral, building revenue projections and leading key negotiations.

 

You’ll also benefit by having a deep understanding of the advertiser and agency planning and buying process and why brands want to partner with podcasts.

 

As Head of Content Acquisition at Global Studios, you will require the following:
  • Scouting, Watching, Listening (20%):  Remain up to date on latest podcast launches, key talent moves, competitors, and partnerships. Using this information, you will be leading the team to create a pipeline of content to approach. As part of this you will have a high level of external presence and visibility. This includes actively networking, attending key industry events, and speaking at them to position Global Studios as the leading destination for podcast talent. It’s about building credibility, relationships, and brand reputation in the market.

  • Pitching and Negotiating (40%): We need someone with a hungry, seller type of attitude who can navigate difficult and complex negotiation with agents and creators to convince them to come to Global Studios. You’ll be responsible for securing the right commercial and contractual terms to work for both Global and our creators, you will also lead discussion for future IP & production opportunities trying to secure these podcasts for the long term. You’d be expected to work independently on leading these pitches and negotiations, being able to know what we do and don’t want in the portfolio and being creative in deal making.

  • Strategy (20%): Leveraging insights on audience behaviour, market trends, and advertiser demand to shape a clear, insight driven new business strategy and gaining buy-in on that strategy from internal stakeholders. The role also includes having the confidence, influence, and evidence to either support or challenge how we approach thing now. 

  • Internal Collaboration (20%): Working alongside the wider Global Studios team to fully understand the commercial considerations that will be key to your discussions, the originals team to explore any collaborative work, and other key stakeholders

What Success Looks Like

In your first few months, you’ll have:

  • Formed a commercially led content strategy and gained buy-in for the wider business.

  • Established yourself a leader and gained trust and respect from your team and the wider podcast team.

  • Secured a few significant new business wins for Global Studios

 

What You’ll Need
  • 5+ years of experience in a sales or new business leadership role, ideally in the content industry

  • A strategic approach to decision making.

  • Ability to distil complex, technical and commercial information into clear, actionable insights for both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Proven track record in building and maintaining long-term strategic partnerships, that drive mutual value.

  • Experience managing complex negotiations and contracts, with strong attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a consultative approach to working with partners and cross-functional teams.

  • Exceptional prioritisation and decision-making abilities, with a focus on strategic outcomes.

  • Creating and maintaining an inclusive environment where diverse views and experiences are welcomed and celebrated in your team

  • Broad understanding of ad tech systems and processes, with the ability to troubleshoot issues.
