Want to do work that really matters?
At Checkatrade, we’re building the UK’s go-to home improvement marketplace. Every day, we help millions of homeowners find the right tradesperson for the job - fast, fair, and without the faff.

As our next Head of Consumer Strategy, you’ll play a central role in transforming how millions of homeowners discover and engage with Checkatrade. From leading the strategy, planning, and execution of initiatives that drive homeowner growth, engagement, and retention, your work will help us move forward, one job at a time.

Forget long lists — here’s what you’ll actually spend your time on:
  • Defining and owning the Consumer Growth roadmap, aligning strategy with delivery across Marketing, Product, and Data.

  • Leading strategic planning and prioritisation for the Consumer function - setting goals, KPIs, and reporting frameworks to measure impact.

  • Partnering with the VP of Consumer and senior leaders to shape long-term growth strategy and investment allocation across channels (brand, PPC, CRM, partnerships, and app/web).

  • Building scalable frameworks for campaign planning, measurement, and optimisation, ensuring marketing spend and resources drive meaningful ROI.

  • Overseeing delivery of key initiatives including loyalty programmes, retention strategies, and new digital experiences that increase engagement and repeat usage.

  • Designing and refining operational processes that enable speed, consistency, and cross-team collaboration.

  • Developing a culture of excellence, accountability, and curiosity - empowering teams to challenge assumptions and drive impact.

  • Working closely with Analytics and Finance to deepen understanding of growth levers, unit economics, and ROI.

It’s not about ticking every box. It’s about turning up curious, ready to crack on. You’ll do well here if you bring:
  • Extensive experience in consulting, strategy, operations, or growth roles, ideally in consumer, marketplace, or digital platform environments.

  • Proven leadership of teams and cross-functional work streams delivering measurable business impact.

  • Strong strategic and analytical capability - able to structure complex problems and shape business strategy through insight.

  • Deep experience in building scalable systems, processes, and frameworks that drive operational excellence.

  • Sharp commercial acumen, understanding growth economics, marketing ROI, and customer lifecycle dynamics.

  • Exceptional communication and storytelling skills to drive alignment across senior stakeholders.

  • A bias for action - thriving in ambiguous, fast-paced environments and creating momentum through clarity and focus.

  • A mindset that is data-driven, collaborative, pragmatic, and passionate about building meaningful consumer experiences.

We believe great work deserves great rewards. Here’s just a taste:
  • Competitive salary + annual bonus

  • Health, well-being and learning support

  • Gym membership, Smart Tech Scheme and Cycle Scheme

  • Birthday/Special day leave

  • Buy & sell holiday scheme

  • 1 week’s paid charity leave and much more!

How we’ll get to know each other:
  • Screening call with one of our Talent Acquisition Partners

  • 1st stage interview with the VP of Consumer Growth

  • 2nd stage interview with senior stakeholders across Marketing, Product, Data and Finance

  • Final stage Case Study Presentation

If you require any reasonable adjustments during our interview process, please discuss them with your Talent Acquisition Partner.

If this sounds like the place where you can do your best work, we’d love to hear from you — even if you don’t tick every box.
