Overview

Sky is seeking an experienced, dynamic, and strategic professional to join as Head of Communications - Corporate in the UK, reporting to the Group Director of Corporate Affairs.

At a time of rapid technological convergence and changing consumer habits, corporate communications is critical to supporting Sky's business strategy and future growth. This role will lead Sky's proactive engagement with media and key stakeholders, shaping and protecting our reputation across the UK's biggest media and technology markets.

The Head of Communications is a senior role within a team of 12, with four direct reports, and covers Sky's full range of operations across TV, communications, technology, and finance, as well as supporting innovation and new product development.

Our Corporate Communications team is responsible for building and protecting Sky's reputation through proactive storytelling, issue management, and strategic stakeholder engagement - telling the story of Sky as a responsible, innovative business that makes a difference economically, socially, and culturally.

The Role:

The Head of Communications leads the delivery of Sky’s corporate narrative and external media engagement strategy, acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and a key player in Sky's broader Corporate Affairs team. The role also involves collaboration with our shareholder Comcast, and partner organisations including NBCUniversal and SkyShowtime.

What you'll do:

  • Set and lead Sky's corporate communications strategy across earned media, digital, and key stakeholder channels.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to Sky's senior leadership, providing clear, evidence-based advice on external positioning and stakeholder responses.

  • Lead senior executive media engagement, securing and managing high-profile interviews and opportunities to amplify Sky's corporate narrative.

  • Manage Sky's reactive press office function, ensuring agile, disciplined, and creative responses to issues and opportunities.

  • Lead and develop a high-performing corporate communications team, setting clear expectations, motivating team members, and supporting their professional growth.

  • Build and manage relationships with external agencies, including retained PR support, crisis communications specialists, and media monitoring providers.

  • Deliver high-profile corporate communications campaigns that enhance Sky's reputation and drive business impact.

  • Support crisis communications planning and issue management, acting swiftly to protect Sky's brand and reputation during high-pressure situations.

What you'll bring:

  • We're looking for a corporate communications leader with:

  • Proven leadership experience, managing high-performing communications teams and delivering complex, high-impact campaigns.

  • Extensive media relations expertise, with strong relationships across national and trade media, and significant issues and crisis management experience.

  • Strong strategic judgment, able to advise senior leaders clearly and quickly, providing perspective on communications risks and opportunities.

  • Outstanding writing, messaging, and storytelling skills, able to translate complex business information into compelling narratives.

  • Deep understanding of strategic communications, corporate reputation, brand building, and stakeholder engagement across traditional, digital, and social channels.

  • Ideally experience and knowledge of the Telco and Media industry.

  • Experience of managing Board and Executive-level stakeholders, navigating competing demands with clarity and confidence.

  • A proactive leadership style, demonstrating initiative, strong planning skills, and the ability to anticipate reputational challenges.

  • A collaborative, hands-on approach, leading by example and supporting the development of more junior team members.

  • Confidence and resilience, able to make decisions, take considered risks, and operate at pace under pressure.
