The Head of Commercial Finance (internally known as Finance Enterprise Partner Lead, Customer Finance) is a senior leadership role, serving as a crucial business partner to the commercial organisation and is a key member of the Finance and Operations Leadership Team for UK & Ireland.

In this position, you play a key role in steering the commercial success by partnering with internal and external stakeholders along the customer journey, focused on creating value in support of our strategy and goals.

You role model the role of a leader as visionary, architect, catalyst, and coach (VACC), embodying the Roche operating principles. You’ll be leading a large team of both individual contributors and other people leaders, supporting them in their development journeys, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment for all team members.

You support network building across the organisation, to share best practices, co-create solutions that generate value for the customer, the business and the healthcare system we serve; leveraging the skills and experience within the organisation.

The Opportunity

  • Represent Roche in customer meetings, confidently convey our position, and with the ability to de-escalate if necessary.

  • Play active part in ensuring sustainable commercial deals by considering risk evaluation, competitor assumptions and implementing sustainable pricing strategies 

  • Partner with the business and co-lead touchpoints throughout the customer journey with an enterprise mindset and enable maximum value creation through effective resources allocation

  • Key partner for developing creative strategies for revenue generation unlocking the potential of current and future customers

  • Design and evolve processes that serve the purpose and create efficiencies, and driving the implementation of  innovative solutions and technologies (such as AI, automation…)

  • Ensure customer financials are accurate and delivery of robust financial reporting to customers; in particular in line with our obligations as a primary contractor under the Managed Laboratory Service contracts

  • Monitor and manage customer performance over the whole contract life cycle based on profitability and outcomes

  • Support the business and customers in co-creating new business models, quantifying value, and providing pricing transparency

  • Stimulate behaviours across the organisation aligned with financial objectives. 

  • Propose & drive ideas for P&L improvement - esp. upsell opportunities, efficiency/waste improvement, risk reduction, channel filling etc.

  • Stay abreast of and scan the internal and external business landscape for trends, issues and opportunities to create value

  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement and act as a change agent for the digital evolution of the function and beyond.

  • Excellent negotiation skills, ensuring win-win outcomes while influencing better business decision-making.

  • Proven experience in promoting diverse, inclusive teams, and empowering individuals to focus on high-impact work.
