Role Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Commercial Finance to join the Newmedica team. This is a hybrid role with 1-2 days per week in the office.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you’ll act as a strategic business partner to the Newmedica Leadership Team, Joint Venture Partners and Support Office budget holders. You’ll provide commercial insight, financial leadership and challenge to support key operational and strategic decisions across the business.

This is a highly visible role, sitting at the heart of Newmedica’s growth agenda. You’ll help shape investment decisions, support long-term business planning and ensure financial performance is clearly understood across our Joint Ventures and Support Office functions.

Leading a team of five finance professionals you’ll foster a culture of curiosity, collaboration and continuous improvement, helping your team and stakeholders make informed, commercially sound decisions that support sustainable growth.

What Will I Be Doing?

You'll lead and develop the Commercial Finance team, creating a high performing environment where colleagues are supported, challenged and empowered to grow. You’ll oversee financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes across both our Joint Ventures and Support Office functions, ensuring risks and opportunities are identified and managed effectively.

A significant part of the role involves partnering with senior leaders to evaluate commercial opportunities, operational initiatives and investment decisions. You’ll provide insight and challenge to support decision making, helping the business balance strategic priorities with commercial performance.

You’ll take ownership of finance reporting to the Board and Senior Leadership Team, delivering meaningful analysis that drives informed discussion and action. Working closely with our Data team, you’ll also help develop reporting capabilities that combine financial, operational and clinical performance information to deliver deeper business insight.

In addition, you’ll play a key role in supporting our future growth plans, including private service development, activity planning and contract discussions with NHS partners. You’ll provide financial leadership across Joint Ventures, ensuring performance is understood, opportunities are maximised and challenges addressed proactively.

What Skills and Experience Do I Need?

We’re looking for a qualified Accountant with significant post-qualification experience and a proven track record of operating in a commercially focused finance leadership role.

You’ll have highly developed commercial and analytical skills, alongside the ability to interpret complex information and translate it into meaningful business recommendations. You’ll be comfortable working in an environment where priorities evolve and ambiguity exists, making sound decisions based on the best available information.

You’ll be an inspiring people leader, with experience coaching and developing finance professionals and creating high performing teams. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills are essential, with the confidence to influence, challenge constructively and build effective relationships across the organisation.

Most importantly, you’ll be a proactive and forward-thinking finance leader who enjoys improving processes, driving change and helping a growing organisation achieve its ambitions.
