Power systems is one of our fastest growing teams in Ramboll, leading on some of our most ambitious projects from T&D, to wind to Data Centers. Are you ready to steer commercial excellence in Energy Power Systems? Can you coach specialist teams to win and deliver complex power projects?

Your new role

As Head of Commercial you will drive business development and provide senior oversight of commercial activities across bid, contract and transition phases, ensuring our teams operate effectively and project outcomes that meet financial and contractual targets. You balance short-term commercial delivery with long-term strategic positioning, ensuring sustainable growth and market development. You will define commercial policy, oversee bid and negotiation leads, and coordinate with technical, project execution and finance stakeholders to de-risk opportunities and resolve escalations. Operating in a complex global matrix organisation, you will align stakeholders across multiple functions, geographies and reporting lines, often influencing without direct authority

Key stakeholders for the Head of Commercial include the Director Power Systems Global Service Line, local and global Heads of Departments, Geography Sales teams, and other Energy leaders. You will also play a key role in strengthening and embedding commercial acumen across the organisation, enabling technical and project teams to make commercially sound decisions.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Drive business development of the Power Systems Global Service Line.
  • Coordinate strategy development and implementation.
  • Lead and govern the end-to-end sales process, setting standards, tools and KPIs to ensure consistent pipeline development and commercial performance
  • Oversee client management processes, ensuring structured engagement models, relationship governance and regular account reviews across the Power Systems portfolio
  • Provide senior oversight of selected key client accounts, acting as executive sponsor where required to protect revenue, deepen strategic relationships and resolve escalations
  • Own the tender process and quality control for bids, defining submission strategy, overseeing inputs and writing where necessary, and ensuring competitive, compliant commercial proposals (targeting increases in win rate and overall order intake)
  • Establish and maintain commercial governance processes, including approval gates, risk & compliance checks, contract sign‑off procedures and post-award review to safeguard project profitability and contractual integrity
  • Drive the development of commercial capability and mindset across the organisation, coaching non-commercial stakeholders to integrate commercial thinking into decision-making

About you

  • Degree in business, finance, engineering or related field
  • Proven commercial experience in energy or power systems within a consultancy environment  
  • Demonstrable track record working on global or multi‑region projects, comfortable operating in ambiguity and driving clarity across complex organisational structures
  • Strong knowledge of positioning, sales, tendering and contract negotiation processes for large, complex projects
  • Track record of managing key accounts and acting as executive sponsor to protect revenue and resolve escalations
  • Experience establishing and enforcing commercial governance, risk controls and approval processes
  • Excellent stakeholder management and cross‑functional collaboration skills (senior leadership, sales, technical, finance, legal, as well as experience navigating and influencing within complex, global matrix organisations
  • Strategic thinker with commercial acumen and P&L awareness with the ability to balance immediate performance with long-term value creation and strategic priorities
