The purpose of the role is to provide commercial and financial support to the Consumer Electronics Division of Samsung Electronics UK; covering TV, AV, digital appliances and display. The role sits within the Finance Operations team, is a business-partnering role supporting the divisional leadership teams, and reports to the Director of Commercial Finance.

Role and Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities

Commercial decision support

  • To develop, agree and implement the investment and management frameworks aligned to divisional commercial objectives.

  • Increase efficiency and enhance commercial results derived from sales deduction investment across all product categories.

  • Provide financial insight, analysis and appraisal support as required.

  • Analyse and track the investment performance against the framework and plan, identifying risks and opportunities, working with marketing team to prepare contingency plans for below plan performance

  • Day-to-day commercial decision making;

  • Evaluation of customer proposals and bids;

  • Development of business strategy.

  • Drive divisional management to achieve the right balance in improving opportunities.

Financial planning

  • Support the Divisions’ annual, quarterly and monthly financial planning processes.

  • Provide the appropriate level of challenge to ensure that plans are robust, stretching and achievable.

  • Prepare ad hoc analysis (e.g. scenario planning, sensitivity analysis).

Driving financial performance

  • Work closely and collaborate with divisional management to drive financial performance and ensure that the Divisions’ financial objectives regarding sales, profitability, cash conversion and market share are delivered.

  • Work with the FP&A team to prepare beneficial reporting and analysis to support management and identify significant trends/issues, e.g. monitoring performance versus plan, customer/product profitability etc.

  • Liaise with key channel partners and negotiate key contractual terms in commercial agreements with customers to ensure sound risk management and improve SEUK’s return.

  • Find opportunities to improve financial performance and grow the business.

Financial management and control

  • Ensure strong control and governance in the financial activities undertaken by the Divisions.

  • Provide guidance on the accounting for more complex customer deals, obtaining technical advice from other areas of Finance where necessary and ensuring that transactions can be supported within agreed accounting standards.

Samsung Experience Stores

  • Full P&L support for store estate, contract management with partner, business modelling on expansion / closure stores

  • Provide clarity on strategy, team purpose & value and define the key areas of focus and direction.

  • Support the development of your team through regular mentoring, coaching and feedback, 1:1s and on the job learning opportunities.

  • Role model inclusion for your team to build trust and psychological safety.

  • Ensure communication with your team is a core focus area including cascade of information from LT’s and relevant business updates.

  • Manage the on boarding, off boarding process and the entirety of the colleague lifecycle process for all team members.

  • Manage all annual people management cycles such as goal setting, evaluation and salary reviews to a high quality and in a timely manner.

  • To be accountable for ensuring your team are compliant with company processes and procedures; such as compliance, meeting mandatory business cyclical deadlines, and understanding the company values.

What we need for this role

To be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:

  • FMCG background required with experience within technology sector and a fast paced sales environment.

  • Strong commercial competence.

  • Ability to work in a high pressure environment, take quick and effective decisions and direct others.

  • Excellent analytical skills to understand business drivers and interpret financial results.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively at all levels, get key messages across succinctly and work with others.

  • Proven track record in demonstrating accountability and ownership; proactive approach.

  • Strong influencing skills to persuade management that your conclusions are correct and obtain agreement.

  • Strong reporting skills, display key information and convey messages clearly, concisely and with impact.

  • Thrive under pressure, with good decision making skills under tight deadlines.

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA). with proven experience in industry

  • Up to date knowledge of international accounting standards.

  • Hands on experience of using ERP systems (preferably SAP).

  • Ability to implement change process to streamline and make existing processes more efficient.

What does success look like?

  • Supporting each division and product category with accurate and timely support on all commercial proposals, balancing Sales Deduction investment, key brand/PI metrics, profit and sales volumes using market and channel insights to maximise return on investment and minimise commercial risk.

  • Acting as a liaison between sales, product management and financial controlling to support accurate financial simulations and commercial deal approval.

  • Ensuring that divisional and sub-divisional forecasts are accurate and reflective of the correct commercial and accounting treatment.

  • Management and continued development of the team, ensuring they are delivering on their objectives and getting development opportunities in line with their individual development plan.

  • Ensuring accurate forecasts of sales deduction budgets by product in line with internal forecasting schedule.

The interview process

2 Interviews + presentation

First interview with Director of Commercial Finance and representative from sales. Second interview with Finance Director and Divisional VP.
