We make health happen
At Bupa, we exist to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives and to create a better world. With no shareholders, we reinvest in what truly matters — high‑quality care, innovation, and improving health outcomes across the globe.
As our Head of Clinical Research & Insights, you’ll play a key part in shaping how we deliver safe, high‑quality care at scale.
Your work will help us understand what’s happening across our health systems, what’s changing, and where we can make the biggest difference for our customers and communities. From leading clinical research and generating actionable insights, to influencing how we prioritise governance and improvement programmes, your expertise will help us turn evidence into impact.
This is a role for someone who wants their work to matter — someone who can combine strategic thinking with a deep understanding of clinical quality, outcomes and future trends in healthcare.
How you’ll help us make health happen
In this role, you will:
Lead the ongoing development of our clinical research, insights and outcomes oversight strategy, aligning it with corporate priorities and emerging healthcare trends.
Generate high‑quality, evidence‑based insights that inform strategic planning, investment decisions, mergers and acquisitions, and governance prioritisation.
Define and maintain priority research and insight themes based on clinical risk, performance variation and business need.
Lead horizon scanning to identify innovations, risks and models of care that may influence quality, safety, regulation or strategic direction.
Oversee a global portfolio of research and insights activity, making sure resources focus on high‑impact areas.
Translate research findings into clear, practical recommendations for senior leaders and governance committees.
Oversee the evolution and use of outcomes data — including PROMs, PREMs and clinical performance indicators — to generate clinically meaningful intelligence.
Analyse global outcomes trends to identify variation, performance gaps and opportunities for improvement.
Provide insight‑driven evidence to clinical governance forums and support decisions on risk, safety and assurance.
Build strong relationships with leaders across Bupa’s global footprint and represent the organisation with regulators, academic partners and industry groups.
Act as a visible advocate for ethical research, strong governance and evidence‑based decision‑making.
What you'll bring
Experience working in clinical research (a relevant qualification is desirable).
A strong track record of leading research, outcomes or clinical intelligence programmes.
Experience leading teams and supporting others to grow and develop.
The ability to interpret complex information and present it clearly to senior stakeholders.
Strong data literacy, with experience in research methodology, statistical analysis or real‑world evidence generation.
Deep understanding of clinical governance, ethics, regulatory standards and data protection.
Confidence working in a complex, global healthcare environment.
Ability to travel internationally when required.
Desirable but not essential:
Higher research degree (MSc, MPH, MRes, PhD).
Experience implementing PROMs, PREMs or international benchmarking frameworks.
Experience working across multiple markets or health systems.
