Following a proactive review commissioned by M&G’s senior management of the firm’s anti-financial crime functions, a range of enhancement opportunities were identified. Consequently, a new target operating model, better aligned with a three lines of defence framework, was developed.

As a result, the firm is making a significant investment in its anti-financial crime teams, including the establishment of a more senior and functionally aligned second line anti-financial crime team. This development has created several exciting new roles and presents an opportunity for applicants to be part of a dynamic second line team, dedicated to delivering best-in-class activities across all relevant risk domains and functions required by a modern anti-financial crime team supporting a dynamic and growing business.

The Group Financial Crime Functions Lead is a senior leadership role with overarching responsibility for setting the strategic direction and overseeing Group Financial Crime Governance, MI and reporting arrangements, production of Group Financial Crime Policies, Standards and Enterprise-Wide Risk Assessment as well as Group Financial Crime training and awareness framework. This is a dual-hat role, which will also act the subject matter expert for anti-money laundering and counter terrorism financing within the Group 2LoD Financial Crime.

Financial crime responsibilities:

Define and maintain the Financial Crime Strategy and influence strategic direction and prioritisation across Group 2LoD Financial Crime.

Oversee the production of M&G Group Financial Crime Governance and Management Information Framework.

Oversee the production of Head of Group Financial Crime reports.

Oversee the maintenance of the Financial Crime Accountabilities & Responsibilities Model and ensure it is communicated effectively across the organisation.

Oversee the maintenance Risk Decisioning Matrix and ensure it is communicated effectively across the organisation.

Oversee the maintenance of the framework for setting financial crime risk appetite and ensure it is communicated effectively across the organisation.

Approve changes to financial crime risk models.

Team management and additional responsibilities:

Provide overall leadership for financial crime within Group Financial Crime Function.

Provide advice and guidance and act as a point of escalation for the Group Financial Crime Function.

Support peers and team members in the Group Financial Crime Function in managing their responsibilities.

Build collaborative relationships with Group Risk and Compliance stakeholders and local 2LoD financial crime teams.

Act as the Subject Matter Expert (“SME”) for the following risk typologies: money laundering, terrorist financing.

Other tasks and activities within the scope of your role or team as required from time to time.

Skill requirements:

Significant experience working within financial crime and able to demonstrate deep understanding of the financial crime risks inherent in the asset management and/or insurance sectors.

Experienced in managing operational activities for a Group Financial Crime Function, such as attending governance fora, leading strategy and setting direction for financial crime within asset management and or insurance sectors.

Experienced in design and embedding of financial crime policy, training, governance and escalation models, including providing oversight on MI (KPIs ad KRIs), data and analytics setting.

Experienced in setting and managing financial crime risk and control models including implementing changes to enhance the effectiveness of the models.

Deep subject matter knowledge in anti-money laundering and counter terrorist financing laws and regulatory requirements with practical experience in applying the requirements. In-depth knowledge of financial crime laws and regulations, including Sanctions, ABC, tax evasion and fraud prevention, specifically within the context of asset management and/or insurance sectors.

Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in leading cross-functional teams including compliance, risk, technology and operations.

Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders, including the Board, and communicate complex regulatory concepts clearly and concisely.
