Job Description

The Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in the financial control, reporting, strategic financial planning and risk management of the company. This role will also play a key part in the success of Entain during a period of transformation.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Responsibility and Reporting

  • Oversee all aspects of financial and cost management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, and development of internal control policies and procedures.
  • Responsibility for the preparation of the full Listed Company's Annual Report in line with regulatory deadlines.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of other monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and other regulatory requirements. This includes submission of subsidiary statutory accounts and other ad hoc financial filing requirements.
  • Lead and manage the financial reporting team, ensuring continuous development and high performance. This includes the shared service centre team in India.

Accounting and Technical Expertise

  • Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions, acquisitions, and IFRS changes.
  • Support M&A activity, including purchase accounting and post-acquisition integration.
  • Ensure proper treatment of revenue recognition, gaming taxes, and other industry-specific financial matters.

Compliance and Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and standards, maintaining strong internal controls and risk management practices.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of regulatory filings and compliance documentation.
  • Be the main contact with the external auditors during the preparation of the full Listed Company accounts, ensuring a clean audit report and addressing any issues raised.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Implement best practices in financial management, including the adoption of new tools and technologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
  • Significant demonstrable experience of progressively responsible financial management, within a FTSE 100 company or similar large-scale organisation.
  • Plc experience is essential to this role.
  • Proven track record of leading financial transformation initiatives, with a focus on cost management and operational efficiency.
  • Strong technical accounting skills and thorough knowledge of IFRS. Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
  • Demonstrable leadership capabilities, with experience managing and developing high-performing finance teams.
