Because a role here isn’t just another job; it’s a career-defining opportunity to build the future of fintech.

Job Description

As part of Checkout.com’s #NextGen Graduate Program you’ll work alongside experienced professionals, gaining hands-on experience and a comprehensive introduction to digital payments and technology. The program offers an extensive learning experience through technical training, professional development workshops, and direct access to industry experts. You'll be part of a global Early Careers, Graduate community, with regular networking events, mentoring opportunities, and social activities designed to build connections and accelerate your growth and leadership potential. By the end of the scheme, you’ll be equipped with the knowledge, experience, and confidence to make a lasting impact at Checkout.com and beyond.

We’re hiring a Junior Product Designer to join our London-based Product Design team for a 12-month graduate placement starting in September 2026. Embedded within the centralised design team, you’ll work on high-impact product areas including the merchant dashboard.

You’ll contribute to well-defined design tasks, collaborate with senior designers, and receive close mentorship to help you develop strong, production-ready design skills. This role is ideal for graduates who are curious, eager to learn, and passionate about designing thoughtful user experiences.

What you’ll be doing

  • Work on well-defined tasks, partnering with Product and Engineering to deliver customer-focused design solutions.

  • Design for complex user experiences tailored to both merchants and customers, ensuring seamless interactions across the entire payment lifecycle.

  • Apply a solid foundation in visual and interaction design, making effective use of existing patterns and refining your craft through feedback and strong attention to detail.

  • Build an understanding of our product, customers, and teams by asking questions and learning how design decisions impact both users and business outcomes.

  • Use our existing design system, contribute to its ongoing improvement under guidance, and follow established processes to document and maintain consistent design quality.

  • Identify risks or blockers, clarify requirements, and seek guidance by leaning on your team and existing documentation when needed.

  • Support task planning and prioritisation, communicate regularly with your cross-functional partners, and clearly share progress or challenges to stay aligned.

  • Experiment and utilise AI and generative tools to prototype ideas, iterate quickly, and help visualise future product concepts.

About you

  • A recent or upcoming graduate with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant design discipline, with foundational experience in product, UX, or interaction design through coursework, internships, or personal projects.

  • A solid baseline in visual and interaction design, with strong attention to detail and effective use of existing patterns and components.

  • Familiar with basic product thinking, including understanding user needs, iterating on solutions, and working with feedback.

  • Comfortable designing for digital products (web and/or mobile) and collaborating with Product and Engineering partners.

  • Curious, proactive, and able to communicate clearly while learning in environments with some ambiguity.

  • A portfolio is required, featuring 1–2 product design focused projects that show your design process, craft, and thinking.

  • An interest in fintech, payments, or complex digital products is a plus, but not required.

If you would like to apply, please include a link to your portfolio in your CV.
