Global Payroll & Compliance Administrator
THE POSITION
The Brattle Group, a privately held, global economics consulting firm, is looking for a Global Payroll & Compliance Administrator to join our Boston, MA or London, UK office. As a member of the Corporate Accounting team, the Global Payroll & Compliance Administrator is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing across multiple countries, including UK, EU countries, Canada, and Australia, in compliance with local regulations. This role will serve as an additional point of contact, alongside the Senior Global Payroll Specialist, for addressing payroll-related inquiries from both employees and external vendors. The position requires close collaboration with Human Resources to facilitate payroll-related changes. Additionally, the administrator will support the Senior Manager of Tax and Compliance in the preparation and submission of monthly and periodic tax/compliance filings for both U.S. and international operations.
Some of the day-to-day responsibilities of this role include:
Payroll Processing
- Working directly with our In-Country Payroll Providers to process multi-country payrolls, ensuring timely, accurate data and compliance across all jurisdictions.
- Balance and reconcile payroll reports, create and post payroll journal entries, and provide required funding requests.
- Liaise with and coordinate with HR on employee changes affecting payroll.
- Research and resolve any payroll related issues.
- Track and maintain accurate records of country specific leave time policies and requirements.
- Act as main point of contact for employee questions regarding payroll and their pay statements.
- Assist with new hire orientations and setups in payroll.
Tax Filings and Compliance
- Work with our In-Country Payroll Providers to prepare and reconcile employee and company year-end tax statements for distribution and filing.
- Respond to regulatory/government survey requests.
- Apply for domestic and international tax residency certificates.
- Prepare local filings unique to each country, including fringe benefit reporting; VAT/GST/HST tax returns on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and/or annual basis.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as billing, to ensure tax-related invoicing is accurately accounted for.
- Maintain and monitor a compliance calendar to ensure deadlines are met for timely filing.
- Assist with additional projects as assigned.
THE CANDIDATE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field
- 3+ years of payroll experience, with a preference for global expertise
- Solid understanding of payroll process, laws, and regulations
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Experience in structured payroll platforms (e.g., ADP Celergo or Deel), accounting systems and other software applications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Hands-on “roll-up-the-sleeves” services attitude with strong customer service focus
- Able to work effectively with teams members and collaboratively across departments
- Comfortable interacting with senior level personnel inside & outside of the firm
- Flexibility to accommodate working with different time zones
- Overtime may be required – evening and/or weekend
Brattle offers a competitive benefits package, base salary, and bonus program for eligible roles based on individual and firm performance. The anticipated base gross salary range for this position in London, UK is £35,000 - £40,000 annually. Actual salary will depend on a variety of factors, including experience and training.
