Purpose of the job

The Global Indirect Tax manager will support the Global Indirect Tax Director with all indirect

tax issues as required, with a focus on non-EMEA indirect taxes.

  • Ensure compliance as required, working with Collinson finance teams or external advisors

  • Ensure efficient process flows from Collinson systems to indirect tax returns to payments

  • Handle any new registrations or audits in non-EMEA jurisdictions

  • Provide initial support to the business with queries and contract reviews with oversight and support from the Global Indirect Tax Director

  • Develop process flows and governance for non-EMEA indirect tax returns.

  • Provide support to the indirect tax manager embedded within the Insurance Group as necessary

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Governance Support

• Contribute to legislative change analysis and risk identification.

• Maintain and enhance the Global Indirect Tax RACM, with a focus on developing control processes

and documentation for non-EMEA indirect taxes.

Operational Excellence & Compliance

• Manage non-EMEA indirect tax compliance including VAT, GST, US sales tax, and IPT.

• Oversee VAT return cycles across multiple regions.

• Maintain indirect tax provisions and support cashflow forecasting.

Advisory & Business Partnering

• Support Director in providing indirect tax advice to commercial and product teams. Support the

Insurance Group as required with IPT queries.

• First point of contact for contract reviews and risk management.

• Work with the EMEA Indirect Tax manager to deliver indirect tax training to finance and

commercial teams.

Technology, Processes & Automation

• Improve use of Vertex and other automation tools – consider use of AI or automation for non-

EMEA regions.

• Embed indirect tax requirements into ERP and billing systems.

• Enhance process documentation and workflows and document in Loctax.

Projects & Transformation

• Responsibility for deep-dive health checks on VAT/IPT processes outside EMEA

Regional Responsibility

• EMEA: Support the EMEA team as required as the number of live registrations grows

• Americas: Support the Global Director and Americas Director with sales tax filings, disclosures,

registrations, and audits.

• APAC: Support Japanese consumption tax and regional compliance expansion.

Knowledge, skills and experience required

  • 6+ years of progressive indirect tax experience covering multiple jurisdictions.

  • Direct experience of commerce & industry a strong plus, as would be direct experience of indirect tax in a general insurance company (including partial exemption and IPT)

  • Ability to work effectively in a small team.

  • Strong experience of global indirect tax compliance and maintaining a strong control environment, ability to work effectively with the finance teams responsible for delivering VAT data.

  • Experience of implementing and managing technology to automate indirect tax processes.

  • Commercial awareness and ability to partner effectively with the business teams
