The Global Head of Technical Claims will oversee the technical claims function across all multi-line Property & Casualty portfolios, ensuring consistent application of best practices, robust claims governance, and optimal resolution of complex losses worldwide. With 15+ years of proven technical claims expertise, this leader will drive continuous improvement, build consensus, and influence claim outcomes across regional and functional boundaries, without direct managerial authority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and oversight of global technical claims strategies and best practices across all P&C lines, including but not limited to commercial property, casualty, specialty, and reinsurance.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert, providing guidance and direction on complex and high-value claim matters, coverage interpretation, litigation management, and resolution strategies.
  • Collaborate with regional and local claims teams to ensure consistency in claims handling, technical training, and compliance with regulatory, legal, and company standards.
  • Drive the implementation of innovative claims solutions, analytics, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance claims outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Influence cross-functional stakeholders (underwriting, actuarial, legal, operations, and risk) through expertise and relationship-building, ensuring alignment on claims matters and business priorities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including brokers, reinsurers, legal counsel, and vendors.
  • Monitor emerging risks, legal trends, and regulatory changes impacting technical claims across global territories; provide proactive guidance and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Lead claims audit and review processes, ensuring robust technical standards and appropriate controls are in place.
  • Champion a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the technical claims community.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 15 years technical claims experience across multiple Property & Casualty lines, including international exposure.
  • Proven ability to lead by influence, managing and collaborating with diverse, geographically dispersed teams and stakeholders.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of P&C insurance products, claims processes, coverage analysis, litigation, and negotiation strategies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with a track record of optimizing complex claim outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills; adept at fostering collaboration and resolving conflict.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or professional insurance designation (ACII, CPCU, etc.) preferred.
