Company Description

Wise is a global technology company, building the best way to move and manage the world’s money.
Min fees. Max ease. Full speed.

Whether people and businesses are sending money to another country, spending abroad, or making and receiving international payments, Wise is on a mission to make their lives easier and save them money.

As part of our team, you will be helping us create an entirely new network for the world's money.
For everyone, everywhere.

More about our mission and what we offer.

Job Description

About the Team:

Our team focuses on four key areas: Third Party Risk Management, Vendor Management, IntraCompany Services Management, and Procurement. As the Head of Procurement, you will lead the procurement team and function effectively as a bridge between these teams and the different departments in Wise, to optimise how we engage, negotiate, and manage third-party resources globally. This includes working with stakeholders across various specialties, and globally to consolidate how we deal with, negotiate, manage the risks, and overall align our practices to the strategic objectives of the teams and Wise.

About the role:

  • Lead and strategically develop Wise's procurement function, ensuring alignment with our broader business goals.

  • Negotiate contracts and service agreements to secure optimal terms with suppliers that align with Wise’s mission and strategic needs.

  • Identify opportunities for consolidation, renegotiation, or initiation of new proposals (RFPs) to drive efficiency and cost-effectiveness across the business.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Legal, Privacy, Security, and Compliance, to ensure procurement activities adhere to regulatory and internal policies.

  • Support the Third Party Risk team in the implementation of their controls across the vendor selection and tender processes.

  • Support and enhance existing procurement processes to facilitate the smooth onboarding, relationship management, and offboarding of third-party suppliers.

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight across Wise to ensure every third-party relationship adds tangible value to our company and customers, and across each category to assure the best utilisation of resources and mitigation of risks.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience in guiding and strategically developing procurement functions, ideally within the tech or fintech industries.
  • Proven expertise in negotiating contracts and running RFPs on a global scale and across multiple categories, ideally technology.

  • Strong understanding of third-party regulations and ability to integrate with compliance requirements.

  • Exceptional people skills with a track record of influencing teams to achieve shared goals.

  • Ability to work hands-on. While there will be a chance of growing a team, this is not a role where you can simply deliver impact through a large team, but be ready to deliver value directly.

  • Ability to manage complex projects and communicate effectively across diverse teams.

  • Experience in fast-growing environments, balancing the need for governance with the dynamics of rapid growth and scaling.

  • Collaborative problem-solver with a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently, demonstrating organisational prowess and prioritisation skills.

  • Developed and implemented a 7 step category sourcing strategy

  • Ability to demonstrate a model that evaluates vendor relationship vs vendor risk.

  • Demonstrated experience in finance planning related to vendor management, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost reconciliation.

  • Demonstrated examples of development and installation of a procurement process and policy within a global organisation.

Additional Information

For everyone, everywhere. We're people building money without borders — without judgement or prejudice, too. We believe teams are strongest when they are diverse, equitable and inclusive.

We're proud to have a truly international team, and we celebrate our differences.
