Linklaters is a people business. Being best in class in the eyes of our clients means that our people must be exceptional.

We look not only for brilliant minds, but for people who will thrive in our environment: people who love working collaboratively and demonstrate the innovative, efficient, agile, entrepreneurial, and responsible mind-set we aim to bring to every interaction.

Ours is an environment of outperformance. We achieve this not with targets and incentives, but by fostering a positive, supportive, fair, and open atmosphere.

We respect and value difference but insist on inclusivity. We celebrate all aspects of diversity and challenge any form of bias. This is vital to our ability to work as one team, with a common goal.

Global Environment Assistant (FTC) - The role:

  • Support and coordinate the day-to-day delivery of Linklaters’ ISO14001 certified Environmental Management System (EMS), working closely with the Global Environment Manager and Advisor.

  • Drive and support the firm’s Carbon Reduction Programme, including assisting with data collection, analysis, and performance reporting.
  • Lead engagement campaigns to inspire staff action on sustainability, including World Environment Day and Earth Hour.
  • Monitor, report, and analyse environmental performance against objectives and targets, highlighting trends and areas for improvement.
  • Arrange internal and external EMS audits, coordinate responses to findings, and keep EMS documentation up to date.
  • Collaborate globally, building international relationships across our offices.
  • Draft responses to client and stakeholder environmental requests and surveys (e.g. CDP Climate Change, EcoVadis, UN Global Compact).
  • Become a super user of environmental data and performance software, supporting the annual GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions reporting process.
  • Support the continuous improvement of Linklaters’ Global Environment Policy, programmes, and communications.

Global Environment Assistant (FTC) - What we're looking for:

  • Minimum two years’ experience working with an EMS certified to ISO14001 or EMAS, ideally as an EMS Coordinator or similar.
  • Experience training others on environmental responsibilities and processes.
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with raw environmental data, supporting evidence and calculating performance.
  • Working understanding and practical experience of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
  • Relevant qualification, e.g. Higher National Diploma in Environmental Management or Science.
  • ISO14001 EMS qualifications and/or practical experience.
  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to seeing tasks through.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently, work collaboratively, and train and engage colleagues at all levels.
  • Professional manner and a passion for environmental sustainability.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Desire to contribute proactively to continuous improvement and innovation within a leading global law firm.
