Brown Advisory is currently seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Global Credit Research Analyst with a coverage preference for the Consumer sector. The candidate will support the research process with the performance of fundamental research across regions, countries, and companies within developed global markets. This position would aid the team in company and industry analysis, investment ideation, securities analysis, surveilling existing positions, investment debate, and portfolio-level analysis.

This role will require credit research expertise surrounding industry trends, business models, company fundamentals, capital structures, and fixed income instruments such as bonds, floating-rate notes, convertibles, and derivatives. The fundamental research process is highly integrated with sustainable investing principles when supporting sustainable portfolio strategies. The candidate will be expected to execute and communicate sector coverage in the context of different fixed income strategies.

This is a full-time position that can be located in our Baltimore, New York, London or Washington, DC offices.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct fundamental research across various countries, sectors, and companies

  • Create and communicate investment recommendations, including financial models, investment memos, and presentations

  • Effectively communicate recommendations and observations within a collaborative team environment

  • Monitor and report on market and company data as they relate to investment theses

  • Oversee portfolio holdings, including quarterly earnings and other significant event updates

  • Attend conferences and meetings associated with the fundamental research effort

  • Collaborate with the sustainable research team to integrate sustainable investing into the research process

  • Assist portfolio managers in tracking and analyzing portfolio-level metrics

  • Assist in the sales and marketing efforts to communicate externally and to clients

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of work experience as a credit analyst with coverage preference for Consumer

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • CFA and/or MBA preferred

  • Strong quantitative and communication skills

  • Critical thinker and intellectually rigorous

  • Life-long learner with an insatiable appetite for growth

  • Strong and collaborative work ethic

  • Extensive knowledge of financial statements, Microsoft Excel, and Bloomberg

  • Willingness to be outside the comfort zone and support other functions of Brown Advisory

  • Willingness to travel at least 25% annually

  • Ability to work in an office location

Base salary ranges:

$190k to $210k for a location in Baltimore, MD

$190k to $210k for a location in Washington, DC

$190k to $210k for a location in New York, NY

This base salary range is commensurate with experience and location. This range does not include bonus or long term incentive eligibility (if applicable).
