Job Description
We are seeking a Vice President, based in Singapore or Hong Kong, focusing on Debt Solutions for the Innovation Economy (IE) team across Asia Pacific.
J.P. Morgan aims to be the bank for the innovation economy. As part of our Global Corporate Bank, the IE team provides corporate banking services globally to high growth, innovative businesses, ranging from early / growth stage venture-backed companies to large publicly listed enterprises. We serve verticals including applied tech, biotech, climate tech, disruptive commerce, fintech, internet and software.
Venture debt is a critical pillar of our service offering for IE clients. The Debt Solutions team is responsible for evaluating, structuring and executing venture debt transactions for IE clients across Asia Pacific, working closely with the IE client coverage bankers and the Credit Risk team.
As a Vice President in the Debt Solutions team, you will report to the Co-heads of VC Relationships and Venture Lending, and work closely with IE coverage bankers and Credit Risk to evaluate, structure and execute venture debt transactions. This role offers exposure across Asia Pacific, significant responsibility in building a critical part of our service offering, and the opportunity to be part of our fast growing IE business.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with IE coverage bankers, Credit Risk and Legal on all aspects of the venture debt portfolio
  • Understand and monitor the venture lending market across Asia Pacific
  • Lead evaluation of venture debt opportunities across Asia Pacific, including structuring our debt facilities to mitigate risk
  • Lead discussion of structural components of our debt facilities, including terms and covenants, with clients, Credit Risk and other internal stakeholders
  • Coordinate with global counterparts on relevant transactions and solutions for complex transaction issues
  • Drive the overall transaction execution process, including legal documentation
  • Monitor and analyze our venture lending portfolio to derive actionable insights

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:
  • Minimum 6 years of experience at a major global bank or a private debt investment fund in a structuring, execution or credit risk role
  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics or other related disciplines
  • Experience in evaluating and structuring credit products, especially for pre-profitable technology companies
  • Strong skills around business evaluation, financial modelling, risk identification and mitigation
  • Self-motivated, with a willingness to learn about new, emerging verticals, and work in a fast-paced, action-oriented environment
