Job Description:

The opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to lead one of Hitachi Energy’s most strategic global customer relationships at the centre of the energy transition.

As Global Account Director, you will shape how we partner with a key customer to design, deliver, and scale critical energy infrastructure. You will bring together capabilities from across Hitachi Energy and the wider Hitachi Group to align with the customer’s long-term ambitions, turning strategy into tangible outcomes.

Operating in a global, highly matrixed environment, you will combine strategic leadership with hands-on execution. You will work closely with senior stakeholders—both internally and externally—to drive alignment, unlock opportunities, and ensure we consistently deliver on our commitments.

This role offers high visibility, significant influence, and the opportunity to make a lasting impact on both business performance and the future of the energy system.

How you'll make an impact

  • Lead and grow one of our most important global customer relationships, translating long-term ambition into sustained commercial success and meaningful partnership.

  • Deliver sustained, profitable growth through a clear, executable multi-year account strategy across regions and business units

  • Stronger, deeper executive relationships, positioning Hitachi Energy as a trusted, long-term partner

  • Improved delivery performance and customer experience, ensuring alignment between what we sell and what we deliver

  • Greater alignment across Hitachi Energy, bringing together our global capabilities to present one coherent, high-impact face to the customer

  • Increased influence at senior level, shaping decisions that drive long-term value for both the customer and Hitachi Energy

Ultimately, you will help enable the delivery of critical energy infrastructure and contribute to building a more sustainable, resilient energy system.

Your background

  • You have a strong track record of leading complex, strategic customer relationships in dynamic, multi-stakeholder environments

  • You’re comfortable operating at both a strategic and hands-on level, shaping long-term direction while ensuring delivery and results

  • You bring significant experience in commercial leadership, account management, or business development, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and deliver sustainable growth across international markets

  • Your experience may come from energy, infrastructure, industrial sectors, technology, or similarly complex environments

  • You can understand customer challenges, connect capabilities across a broader ecosystem, and translate strategy into impactful solutions

  • You’re a collaborative and inclusive leader who brings together diverse teams across functions, geographies, and cultures

  • You create clarity, alignment, and momentum, and are comfortable leading without direct authority in a global, matrixed organisation

  • You combine strong commercial acumen with a customer-first mindset, balancing growth, profitability, and long-term partnership

  • You’re confident using data and insight to inform decisions, challenge thinking, and drive performance

  • You’re comfortable operating in ambiguity, able to prioritise, make decisions, and maintain momentum in a fast-moving environment

  • You’re fluent in English; additional languages are an advantage in a global context
