Location: London

FREENOW is looking to recruit a highly motivated, commercial and customer focused full time General Manager who works closely with our central functions to lead and manage the FREENOW operations in the UK. The role will directly report into the Regional General Manager. As the Managing Director of our UK entity, you will own the FREENOW national business and be accountable for all aspects of the business from strategy & positioning in market, P&L and everything through to day-to-day execution. You will also lead the FREENOW vision locally and be the brand advocate for all customers (drivers, passengers & businesses) within the company as well as expand FREENOW’s services and market position working closely with local regulators and key industry stakeholders. 

YOUR DAILY ADVENTURES WILL INCLUDE:

P&L management & commercial acumen:

  • Own the planning and delivery of P&L and KPI targets within agreed timeframes
  • Ability to spot opportunities to create or improve revenue streams. Take ideas from concept through to realisation
  • Put in place adequate operational planning and financial control systems, closely monitor the operating and financial results against plans and budgets, and take remedial action where necessary
  • Work closely with central Finance teams to ensure smooth delivery of P&L goals
  • Work closely and collaborate with the Marketplace Performance team to steer supply and demand with an accurate understanding of the unit economics

Operations:

  • Devise, deliver & evaluate value propositions for drivers, passengers and businesses
  • Optimise the day-to-day operations including balancing supply & demand, customer services, driver liaison, business sales & marketing activity
  • Build relationships and represent FREENOW with external stakeholders, including government, regulators, trade and driver organisation as well as local and international media
  • Represent the market with the central functions including central operations, marketing, product and tech teams and influence their roadmaps and priorities
  • Actively monitor key business metrics, and continuously look for new opportunities for growth within region
  • Be the face of FREENOW, including dealing with the press, regulators and government to lobby effectively for the ride-hailing industry and FREENOW’s role within it
  • Develop and retain talent to ensure delivery of business objectives

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:

  • Previous experience in leading successful senior teams and owning P&L
  • Self-confident and engaging presence, complemented by strong social and interpersonal skills. Equally comfortable communicating to groups of drivers as with senior politicians or commercial partners. 
  • An analytical operator who is obsessed with continuous improvement and leveraging the latest technology (e.g. AI) to achieve operational excellence
  • Affinity for and experience in sales, marketing, and commercial negotiations.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable dealing with ambiguity and uncertainty inherent in scaling a technology marketplace
  • Understanding of technology-driven marketplaces
  • An extensive network in the UK market segments is preferred
