About Us

Sofar Sounds is a global community that connects artists and audiences through unique and intimate experiences. Sofar shows transform everyday spaces — from living rooms and rooftops, to boutiques and museums — into captivating venues for intimate gigs, creating inclusive experiences that bring people closer together. Founded in London in 2009, Sofar creates space where music and arts matter in 400 cities around the world.

Our global team is distributed across the US and UK, and is backed by some of the best-known consumer industry investors (TCG, Battery Ventures, Union Square Ventures, Octopus and others).

The Role

London is where Sofar began 15 years ago. Today, London has blossomed into our largest city – hosting shows across music, comedy, dance, and more. We’re thrilled to be bringing on a General Manager who will run the show for the entirety of this diverse and dynamic city, identifying opportunities to build intentional communities from the ground up, connecting artists and performers with unique venues and passionate fans, and establishing Sofar as the go-to source for unforgettable experiences in neighborhoods across London.

Our ideal candidate has a strong desire to run a live experiences business – and is both a grassroots level community builder and a high-level strategist and operator. They should be dialed into the events and live experiences world in London, and have a substantial network.

What you'll do:

  • Be the top leader of Sofar London, with full P&L and managerial responsibility
  • Build an ambitious business plan, in partnership with the central team, that starts at the local neighborhood level and charts a path for growth throughout the city
  • Manage and grow the local team, including talent booking, crew, hosts/MCs, marketing and partnerships
  • Become Sofar's intentional community builder in London, identifying opportunities for connection and nurturing multiple groups around geographies, categories and audiences
  • Test and innovate with new formats, venues and local marketing initiatives
  • Develop local revenue-generating partnerships and assist in the implementation of global partnerships
  • Be the outward face and voice of Sofar London in the community and press
  • Ensure the highest quality experience via customer focus, operational rigor, and adherence to Sofar's standards and values.
  • Drive company culture through extension of Sofar's global culture, and elements that are distinctly London

Who you are:

  • You have 7+ years of strategy and operations experience including P&L oversight, developing growth strategies, and managing teams focused on experiential execution
  • You’re a seasoned manager who has overseen and grown teams of 5+
  • You live and breathe culture, and are closely tied into the events and live experiences world in London
  • You have a strong playbook for local activations and have directly managed revenue-driving operations in the greater London area
  • You’re a fluent cross-functional communicator – you can seamlessly work with teams across the business and know how to get into the weeds, but can zoom out to the high-level picture
  • You have deep experience in producing live events and activations (music or otherwise)

If our mission and job opening resonate, you're encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't precisely match the job description. We are committed to creating a culture of belonging and building a diverse team that reflects a variety of lived experiences, perspectives, and skills.
