More about our mission and what we offer.

Job Description

Your mission:

Ownership of complex accounting areas: You will be responsible for a variety of accounting challenges (including Share Based Payments (IFRS2)) requiring both strong data processing skills (manual and semi-automated calculation files) and knowledge of financial reporting and international accounting standards).

This includes:

  • performing controlling over the area;

  • managing and coordinating improvement projects aimed to make accounting processes more reliable, efficient and automated;

  • collaborating with various finance and other teams to obtain understanding about transactions and work out appropriate accounting processes and sufficient controls to mitigate operational risks.

Project Management: As a UK‑listed company preparing for a potential dual‑listing in 2026, Wise is working on  strengthening the design and operating effectiveness of its internal controls. You will lead the SOX controls uplift within the General Accounting team, driving improvements in both control design and execution.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Own your own path to success – You’ll have a high level of autonomy and responsibility.

  • Develop an in-depth knowledge in accounting – Challenge your IFRS and US Gaap skills, knowledge and abilities in a wide variety of accounting areas.

  • Work in a team – You’ll have an opportunity to work together with like-minded, highly experienced and results oriented people.

  • Inspire teams with your ideas, strategy, knowledge and self-starting attitude.

  • Grow with the role – You will have the opportunity to develop your leadership skills as the business and Finance function grows in complexity.

Qualifications

About you:

  • Practice – You have prior experience as Senior Accountant, Financial Controller or Audit Manager. Prior experience in international/listed companies or FinTech would be highly beneficial. You have practical experience in managing accounting projects and demonstrated resilience to break through and overcome challenges. You may have built things from scratch.

  • Theory – Strong understanding of the core accounting principles (IFRS and/or US Gaap knowledge is a must.)

  • Ownership – You work independently, assume responsibility and make your own judgements. You are prepared to take ownership over complex new areas and solve problems with minimal guidance.

  • Love getting things done – You are not afraid to roll up your sleeves and take responsibility to do whatever needs doing to solve problems.

  • Collaborative and influencing skills – You work well in an international team environment, and know how to have an impact through others. You have partnered with internal and external stakeholders and have strong communication skills.
