Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking a Gauge Calibrator/Database Manager to be part of our experienced technical team at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) in Wallops Island, VA. The SCSC is located on a barrier island on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and is a tenant of NASA's Wallops Flight Facility. SCSC provides live combat system suites with platform-specific radars and sensors as well as supporting the following functions: combat system lifetime support engineering; platform certification; operational and technical evaluation; combat system training; interoperability testing; and participation in at-sea exercises. SCSC provides a high-fidelity representative combat system of every ship in the AEGIS/Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) fleet today and those planned in the future.
The selected candidate will:
maintain the gauge calibration program and the Test Equipment Metrology program, including accountability of all gauges and test equipment at the AEGIS/SSDS and V3 facilities at SCSC Wallops Island. Successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining certification of the gauge calibration bench. Candidate will carry out duties associated with a work center supervisor, utilizing SKED program in accordance with the Navy's Maintenance Material Management (3M) system and also would be responsible for documenting all maintenance actions associated with gauges and test equipment, including repair part requisitions, using the OMNS-NG program.
Provide regular, periodic reports covering gauge calibration and test equipment, detailing and reporting of failures and status.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Minimum education and years of related work experience required:
- High School/GED and at least 4 years of experience assessing troubleshooting and performing corrective and preventive maintenance of tactical systems and equipment, with particular experience in gauge calibration and test equipment
- Require Gauge Calibration Certification/NEC.
- Prefer candidate have 3M PQS 301 qualification; however, if the selected candidate does not have PQS 301 qualification, he/she will be required to become qualified within three months from date of hire.
Successful candidate must be willing and able to perform in a variety of 40-hour work-week configurations, including:
1. Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 1st Shift
2. Monday-Friday (5 x 8): 2nd Shift
3. Variable 4 x 10 shifts that may include weekends (4 days on/3 days off) and may be 1st or 2nd shift
4. Sliding (5 x 8) work weeks (Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday) and may be 1st or 2nd shift
**PLEASE NOTE - These work-week configurations may be scheduled on a rotational basis.
Security clearance requirement: must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship required). Selected candidate will receive a contingent offer, and start date will be delayed until at least an interim Secret clearance is granted.
Also required:
Demonstrated experience and ability to define, articulate, and communicate equipment status and troubleshooting efforts and recommend courses of action for approval.
Demonstrated experience in the ability to coordinate, schedule and implement equipment upgrades.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Highly desired, but not required:
Active DoD Secret security clearance
Certified as a maintenance person in accordance with PQS 304, reference NAVEDTRA 43241-K
Pay Information
This position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
