Own and build in-product growth surfaces to drive activation, adoption, and upgrades (upgrade modals, gating, onboarding, CTAs). Implement and maintain experimentation and feature-flagging infrastructure, instrument analytics, and build backend APIs for experiment config, tracking, and PQL logic. Mostly frontend (React) with some backend (Node.js/Python). Collaborate cross-functionally and use AI tools to accelerate development and integrate LLM capabilities into growth features.

What Do We Do?

Triple Whale is the AI operating system built for modern ecommmerce. We help you see what's actually working in your business, what's not, and what to do next. Then we take action for you — pausing the underperforming ad, generating the next batch of creative, flagging the inventory risk before it bites.

We pull every signal in your business into one place, and put it on the most trusted measurement foundation in the industry. And on top of that, we give you the most actionable AI in commerce — Moby 2 — letting you tap any LLM you want, grounded in the full context of your business. Moby 2 doesn't just surface insights, it executes decisions for you, with automations that make the rest of your stack smarter.

The result: more than 60,000 brands like Pressed Juicery, OUAI, and True Classic turn mountains of complex data into actions that actually grow profit, at a speed and scale that is not humanly possible.

What You're Applying For

We're hiring a full stack engineer to own the in-product growth surface at Triple Whale. Your primary focus will be building the experiences that drive customers to activate, adopt key features, and upgrade to higher-tier plans through self-serve flows.

This means you'll own things like upgrade prompts, gating experiences, onboarding flows, in-product messaging, trial mechanics, and feature discovery moments. You'll also build and maintain the experimentation infrastructure that lets the team run A/B tests and iterate quickly. You'll work closely with the product lead on Moby and partner cross-functionally with product, sales, CS, and marketing.

The role is roughly 80% frontend and 20% backend, with backend work covering things like API endpoints for experiment configuration, usage tracking, PQL scoring logic, and integrations with internal systems. You should also be comfortable using AI tools to accelerate your work and building features that incorporate AI capabilities.

The majority of your time will be spent on growth-specific work, with some contribution to core product as needed.

What You'll Work On

Growth Surfaces and Upgrade Flows

You'll build the frontend experiences that drive self-serve conversion: upgrade modals, plan comparison views, usage limit messaging, gating experiences, and in-product CTAs. These need to feel native to the product, not bolted on. You'll work closely with product to design, test, and iterate on these flows based on real user behavior and experiment results.

Experimentation Infrastructure

You'll own the frontend side of the growth experimentation stack. This includes implementing feature flags, building A/B test variants, instrumenting events for analytics, and ensuring the team can run experiments quickly without shipping fragile code. You should be comfortable working with tools like LaunchDarkly, Statsig, or similar, or building lightweight equivalents when needed.

Onboarding and Activation

You'll build the in-product experiences that help new and existing customers hit activation milestones faster: guided flows, tooltips, checklists, contextual nudges, and feature education moments. The goal is to get customers to the value that makes them want to upgrade, not just to show them a paywall.

Analytics Instrumentation

Growth decisions are only as good as the data behind them. You'll be responsible for ensuring clean, reliable event tracking across the growth surfaces you build so the team can measure activation, conversion, and feature adoption accurately.

Core Product (as needed)

While growth is your primary focus, you'll also contribute to core product work when priorities call for it. This keeps you connected to the broader product experience and ensures growth surfaces stay consistent with the rest of the platform.

What We're Looking For

Must-haves:

  • 2-4 years of professional full stack engineering experience with a frontend emphasis, primarily in React with backend experience in Node.js, Python, or similar
  • Experience building UI that sits in the critical path of user conversion or monetization (upgrade flows, checkout, onboarding, paywalls, or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with feature flagging and A/B testing infrastructure, whether through third-party tools (LaunchDarkly, Statsig, Optimizely) or custom-built systems
  • Comfort with analytics instrumentation and event tracking (Segment, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar)
  • Experience using AI tools (Cursor, Claude, Copilot, or similar) as a core part of your development workflow, not just occasionally
  • Ability to move fast and ship iteratively without sacrificing code quality in the areas that matter
  • Strong collaboration skills, especially working in a tight loop with product and using data to inform what you build next

Strong-to-haves:

  • Experience building features that integrate AI/LLM capabilities (prompt design, API integration, streaming responses, or similar)
  • Experience at a product-led growth company or on a dedicated growth engineering team
  • Familiarity with in-app messaging or onboarding tools (Appcues, Pendo, Intercom Product Tours, or custom equivalents)
  • Experience in ecommerce, marketing technology, or ad tech
  • Interest in the "why" behind what you're building, not just the "how." The best growth engineers care about the metrics, not just the code
Why This Role, Why Now

Triple Whale has a new tiered product model, a growing base of customers on our free, Foundation, and legacy plans, and AI-native capabilities that create natural upgrade moments. What we don't have yet is dedicated engineering capacity focused on turning those moments into revenue. You'd be the first engineer embedded in growth, working directly with product leadership to build this function from scratch. You'll work across the stack, ship fast with AI-assisted tooling, and see the impact of your work in the data almost immediately.
