Company Description

Hi! We're UW. We’re on a mission to take the headache out of utilities by providing them all in one place. One bill for energy, broadband, mobile and insurance and a whole lot of savings!

We’re aiming to double in size as we help more people to stop wasting time and money. Big ambitions, to be delivered by people like you.

Got your attention? Read on...

We put people first.

To thrive in this role, you'll bring a strong blend of collaborative and technical skills:

  • Collaborative mindset: You take a proactive approach to addressing team challenges, share a keen eye for great user experiences, and work closely with others to turn mockups into beautiful, functional interfaces.

  • Problem-solving drive: You possess effective debugging skills and focus deeply on keeping code clean and highly maintainable.

  • Core tech stacks: You have proven, hands-on experience working with React, React Native and TypeScript.

  • State & data management: You hold a solid understanding of solutions like Redux and feel confident working with GraphQL for data interactions.

  • Testing & CI/CD: You bring experience using GitHub Actions and writing robust unit and end-to-end tests.

  • Bonus skills: Any experience with Next.js, Kubernetes or Containers is highly desirable, though we are equally happy to help you develop these in the role.

We work together.

You'll join our cross-functional, fully autonomous delivery teams where real product ownership is the norm. Energy sits right at the heart of UW, with over 95% of our customers taking at least one energy service. As an engineer here, you will collaborate closely with designers, backend engineers, and product managers to navigate major, high-impact projects like our ongoing Energy Transformation. Together, we are modernising our core platforms to dramatically boost agent efficiency, lower costs, and reshape how multi-service billing delights our customers.

We deliver progress.

In this role, you will make a direct impact on our core applications and future architecture:

  • Build apps: Build and maintain responsive, user-friendly web and mobile applications.

  • Develop components: Create modular, reusable, and testable frontend components that strictly adhere to modern design and accessibility standards.

  • Integrate APIs: Connect frontend applications with GraphQL APIs to ensure seamless data fetching and reliable state management.

  • Optimise performance: Manage application state effectively using Redux while continuously boosting performance across web and mobile platforms.

  • Troubleshoot code: Use systematic analysis and modern debugging tools to track down and solve frontend issues smoothly.
