⚡ About Amber

Amber is an entirely new way of thinking about buying, banking and selling energy where home energy technology works to put money back in customers' pockets and accelerate the renewable energy transition.

We're an Australian headquartered company, where we are both an energy technology company and a utility providing energy directly to households and small businesses. In Australia (the world leader on rooftop solar and a 2-way energy grid), we've proven that the cheapest, fastest and most rewarding way to reach 100% renewables is to automate the growing wave of home batteries, EVs, and other smart energy devices.

Customers get direct access to the real-time electricity prices and the technology to shift energy usage to the times when cheaper renewables are available in the grid and export to the grid at times when the price they can be paid for it is highest.

We are a clear market leader in energy automation in Australia, and are now partnering with utilities across Europe to bring our technology to European markets and consumers.

We're backed by leading VCs in Australia and Europe, as well as impact-focused investors and world-leading energy companies.

💻 About the role

Our Amber for Utilities team licenses our technology to energy retailers and utilities worldwide. Amber has cracked something genuinely rare - a technology that benefits consumers, utilities, and the grid all at once.

Amber for Utilities Europe (A4U) is live, major utility partnerships are underway, and we've reached an inflection point. We're ready to scale - and this role is the signal of that ambition. The Australian-based CMO needs a trusted operator in the European timezone to be the founding marketer for Europe.

You'll lead and drive our B2B marketing efforts, collaborating closely with both the local A4U teams and the Australian go-to-market team. The primary goals will be 1) to solidify Amber's recognition as the world-leader in Vehicle-to-Grid technology and 2) to drive trust with senior executives of European utilities, bolstering our licensing deals.

This is an individual contributor role initially, with opportunity to build a team/agency bench.

If you're energised by the idea of shaping the marketing function at a lean, high-stakes, category-defining business in one of the world's most complex and exciting energy markets, with the autonomy to do it your way, we'd love to speak with you.

👉🏽 Responsibilities

  • Own and build Amber's B2B marketing strategy for Europe from the ground up - everything from the plan, positioning, messaging, and channels
  • Map industry leaders, publications and events calendar
  • Make Amber the name European utilities trust when they think about Vehicle-to-Grid and home energy automation across battery, EV, and solar, working closely with the A4U sales team to support and accelerate licensing deals
  • Run our PR, content, sales enablement, social, and events presence in region - hands-on at first, then building the external support around you as we grow
  • Develop B2B brand guidelines (B2C exists)
  • Work with the Vehicle-to-Grid team in Australia to translate what we've proven there into compelling narratives for the European market
  • Act as Amber's brand steward in Europe, keeping our positioning sharp and consistent across everything sales and marketing touches
  • Advise utility clients on their own consumer-facing go-to-markets where needed, drawing on Amber's B2C experience in Australia
  • Be the voice of the European market back to HQ - sharing what you're hearing from clients, prospects, and the broader industry to sharpen our thinking

🎯 Key Requirements

  • 7+ years in marketing, comms, or go-to-market at a fast-growing tech company or scaleup - with a clear track record delivering real commercial outcomes
  • Experience marketing to senior enterprise buyers, ideally in complex, multi-stakeholder, long sales cycle environments
  • A strong generalist who knows how to prioritise across PR, content, events, and social - and can execute across all of them without a big team underneath you yet
  • Comfortable owning strategy and getting hands-on with execution at the same time - this is a founding role, not a management-only role
  • Sharp written and verbal communicator who can adapt across audiences, from a utility CEO to a journalist to a homeowner
  • Someone who finds ambiguity motivating - you'll be building the playbook, not following one

🎉 Benefits

  • Be part of a growing technology start-up shaping the future of household renewable energy use
  • Part of a global team of over 200 people across energy, technology, marketing, and operations
  • Flexible working hours & remote working
  • Competitive salary within your local market
  • Employee Share Options Plan
  • Annual Learning & Development budget
  • Annual company conference in Melbourne, Australia - flights & accommodation paid for
  • External Employee Assistance Plan for mental health support

🇬🇧 How You Work

You'll work predominantly remotely within a high-trust environment. Core collaboration hours are 7am-12pm London time to enable meaningful overlap with the Australian team.

We focus on outcomes over hours. Regular check-ins and transparent progress updates are how we maintain the balance of freedom and responsibility.

We have a UK co-working hub you'll visit during onboarding and approximately every 2 months. You'll also be flown to Australia post-probation for 2 weeks, and to Melbourne annually for AmberCon.

🪄 How to Apply

Please include your resume. Our hiring process:

    1. Screening interview with our talent team
    2. Take-home case study
    3. Follow-up interview to discuss the case study
    4. Technical + culture interview
    5. Final conversation with 1-2 Executives
Full-time role, ideally based in London. Open to wider UK, Germany or NL for the right candidate.
