About be/impact
be/impact is an award-winning social impact startup on a mission to upskill 10 million employees while breaking down barriers to education. Our platform helps employees retain knowledge by teaching what they’ve learned to changemakers in non-profits. It's a win-win-win: better learning outcomes, measurable social value, and inclusive talent development.
Backed by leading angels - including the former head of J.P. Morgan’s DACH business - and winners of an Innovate UK award, we already work with leading firms such as Roland Berger, Correlation Risk Partners or Sesame Banking Hall Group. Having raised a pre-seed in 2024, we’ll be accelerating in 2026, raising a 1.5 m seed round, and growing fast.
Role Overview
This role is a launchpad for anyone who hopes to start a company one day. This means you are an ambitious, self-driven doer who turns ideas into actions and who is passionate about making a tangible difference through education and social innovation. We’re looking for someone who gets things done, fast. A self-driven builder and problem-solver who enjoys turning fuzzy problems into working tools.
You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with the founders during a critical phase of the company. Your focus will be on product, as well as internal tooling. You’ll be developing new features,
From day one, you’ll hold real ownership: implementing product features, and run experiments, iterating fast, and delivering tools making a huge difference for your colleagues, our clients, and nonprofit learners. As the company grows, your scope will expand, and you’ll be expected to spot inefficiencies and opportunities, propose solutions, and build them.
This is not a strategy role. It is a hands-on builder role with judgment. While this is mainly a tech role, you’ll be close to business and operations topics.
How you’ll make an impact
In your first six months, most of your time will focus on product execution, internal tooling, and technical problem-solving, closely tied to real business needs.
As with any early-stage start-up role, you’ll also help where needed and stay comfortable with ambiguity.
Key responsibilities
• Internal tooling & automation: Build and maintain AI-powered tools and workflows (e.g. n8n flows, tracking tools, internal dashboards) that significantly improve efficiency and quality across teams.
• Product execution: Fully implement product features across the AI academy, practice environments, and evaluation tools.
• Problem scoping: Work closely with founders and team members to understand what truly needs building and when, assess trade-offs, and prioritise pragmatic solutions.
• Quality & impact: Ensure tools you ship clearly save time, reduce friction, or improve outcomes (e.g. better follow-up quality, faster preparation of materials).
• Support founders across ad-hoc projects typical of an early-stage company.
Your profile
What matters most
• Strong problem-solver and communicator: You can dive deep into a problem, understand what really needs solving, and clearly explain trade-offs between simple and more robust solutions.
• Doer with bias to action: You ship. You don’t wait for perfect specs, full information, and all the answers.
• Independent and pragmatic: You can work on your own, unblock yourself (LLMs are your friend for this), ask for help when needed (a colleague can often help where ChatGPT can’t), and find workable compromises.
• Self-starter: Comfortable continuously reprioritising in a fast-changing environment.
Background & skills
• Experience building technology. You don’t need to be a full-stack software developer, but you have built things on your own, or as part of a technical team.
• Strong understanding and command of AI tools and workflow automation (e.g. n8n, Cursor). This is a must-have.
• Computer science (or other strong scientific) background or more generalist profile who can justify hands-on technical experience.
• Startup experience or having built something from scratch is a strong plus.
• Track record of consistently overperforming.
