Job Description

The technical team at ASOS are all about achieving the right product quality that not only looks great but fits well and is fantastic value for money. They work closely with the Buying and Merchandising teams and are a key support to Design and Ethical. They are constantly striving to find ways to make sure all our products reach the customers looking the best they can. A desire to improve quality and fit, and the ability to work within a diverse team, build relationships at business and supplier level, and be able to think on your feet in such a fast-paced environment are all essential to being a member of the ASOS Technical team.

What you'll be doing...

  • Own the end‑to‑end technical development of Own Brand footwear across multiple brands and customer segments, ensuring every product reflects our design DNA, trend direction, and commercial ambition.
  • Translate creative concepts into technically robust, fit‑for‑purpose product, driving specification accuracy, last development, grading, and material choices that deliver style without compromising quality.
  • Champion the ASOS.com quality promise, ensuring all footwear meets our durability, comfort, and compliance standards through rigorous testing, data-led decision making, and proactive issue resolution.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with global suppliers, influencing construction methods, material optimisation, and innovation to maximise quality, speed, and value.
  • Lead the seasonal technical and product development strategy, aligning with brand goals and customer insight to deliver ranges that exceed expectations.
  • Provide strategic input on materials, sustainability, and process improvement, identifying opportunities to elevate product performance and reduce risk across categories.
  • Manage multi-brand critical paths with precision, ensuring all technical milestones — from fit sessions to sealing — land on time and in full to support on‑time, high‑quality delivery.
  • Partner closely with Design, Buying, Merchandising, Sourcing, and Sustainability, ensuring seamless end‑to‑end execution and a consistent ASOS standard across all footwear.
  • Lead fit sessions and technical sign‑off, giving clear, actionable feedback to suppliers and driving consistency in fit, comfort, and construction across the portfolio.
  • Use in‑season and returns insight to continuously improve, identifying product risks, shaping future strategy, and embedding an always‑on approach to quality enhancement.

Qualifications

Who we'd like to meet...

  • Proven experience and knowledge of working with UK and Off-shore (retailers, Suppliers or Manufacturers) on Product Technical & Quality standards.
  • Strong footwear product technical knowledge gained in retail/manufacturing environment covering all areas from testing, construction, fitting, sealing, production and supply chain management.
  • Strong knowledge of product testing both technical & legal standards
  • Strong ability to communicate clearly and objectively.
  • Proven strong work ethic with utmost integrity
  • Effective problem solver and proactive.
