This is a remote position.

FIS ALS Techno-Functional Consultant

  • Location: Onsite/hybrid, Dublin, Ireland. Remote considered for candidates based elsewhere in Europe, subject to client approval.
  • Engagement: Contract, long-term
  • Day rate: [TBC — confirmed on application]
  • Right to work: Right to work in Ireland or the EU required. No sponsorship available on this engagement.

About the role..

A techno-functional consultant is required to support and evolve a major bank lending platform built on FIS ALS, currently undergoing mainframe modernisation.

The role sits with the ALS development team. You will turn business need into specifications a mainframe developer can build from, and tests that prove the change behaved as specified. The work is inside the system: tracing why an account behaved as it did, identifying the parameter driving it, verifying overnight cycle output, and reconciling what ALS sends downstream against what arrives.

This is a hands-on technical role, not a coordination role.

Requirements
Essential skills

  • Hands-on FIS ALS experience. This is a hard requirement and cannot be substituted by general lending experience.
  • 8+ years' experience, the majority in mortgage or consumer lending — loan servicing, escrow, default management and collections.
  • Working knowledge of the mainframe stack underpinning ALS: COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS.
  • Specification craft: Business Requirement Documents, Functional Requirement Documents, functional and technical specifications, acceptance criteria, current- and future-state process mapping.
  • Requirements elicitation through workshops and stakeholder interviews.
  • Ability to specify interfaces, batch processing, file-based feeds and data mapping between ALS, core banking and treasury systems.
  • SQL and RDBMS concepts, sufficient to validate your own analysis.
  • Experience delivering regulatory and compliance-driven lending change.
  • Experience across tiered environments: Dev, Test, UAT, Pre-Production, Production and DR.

Desirable

  • Prior work on ALS upgrades, patches or FIS vendor releases.
  • Experience on a mainframe modernisation or platform migration programme.

Key responsibilities

Business and functional analysis

  • Gather and document business requirements from stakeholders.
  • Run workshops, interviews and requirement elicitation sessions.
  • Analyse current- and future-state lending processes.
  • Produce BRDs, FRDs and user stories, with acceptance criteria and business rules.

ALS platform analysis

  • Analyse ALS functionality across loan servicing, escrow, default management and customer account management.
  • Assess the impact of proposed changes on existing lending processes and downstream systems.
  • Support ALS upgrade and enhancement initiatives.

Technical analysis

  • Prepare detailed functional and technical specifications for development.
  • Analyse system interfaces and data flows.
  • Work with developers on batch processing, file-based interfaces, integrations, and data mapping and transformation.
  • Support solution design discussions and release activity through to production.

Benefits
What we offer

  • Long-term engagement on a high-visibility lending transformation programme.
  • Onsite/hybrid working in Dublin, or remote within Europe subject to client approval.
  • Day rate confirmed on application.

To apply

Send your CV to [email protected], with a short covering note stating:
  • Which ALS modules you have worked in, and what you did in them.
  • Whose lending book it was.
  • Approximately which release the estate was on.
  • One change you specified end to end, including what went wrong with it.
  • Applications are reviewed against the covering note first.
