We’re hiring for a Financial Controller London.
Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this role is to manage financial control processes within the Global Functions and Global Practices teams, driving an appropriate control and compliance environment, and overseeing the production of financial management and statutory information. The role will build a successful team, manage process risk and drive continuous improvement initiatives across multiple processes.
Global Functions incorporates the various functional teams that support dentsu’s International Markets, including Executive, Finance, HR, Technology, Legal, Operations and Commercial teams. Global Practices includes central Practice, brand, supply-side, marketing, research, operations, executive and investment/innovation teams. Although Global Functions and Global Practices have separate organisational structures and commercial finance support, various transactional and operational activities are performed by shared teams.
Key Responsibilities
Policies and controls
- Own and monitor compliance with dentsu financial policies and controls, including dentsu’s internal control framework, ensuring the integrity of the Global Functions and Global Practices financial reporting
- Lead regular reviews to identify and resolve gaps in the design or effectiveness of controls
Management accounts
- Lead monthly balance sheet related processes, including management of working capital
- Oversee delivery of month end reporting to business partners and Group Finance
- Primary point of contact for the team’s Bangalore-based Operational Finance teams
- Review and approval of month end journals
- Support the FDs and Finance Business Partners to deliver accurate reporting and analysis for budget, quarterly forecasts and year end financials
Financial processes and approvals
- Monitor billing and collection activities, including credit insurance coverage, resolving or escalating issues as appropriate
- Oversee the financial administration of people-related activities including management of payroll with HR, maintenance of master data, processes and finance systems
- Lead treasury-related activities including hedging, payments and intercompany loans
- Management of other specialist finance activities including audit, taxation, VAT, insurance and risk management
- Review and approval of balance sheet reconciliations (using the Blackline reconciliation software) and responsible for ensuring all reconciliations are completed each month in line with KPIs
- Review and approval of T&E spend, corporate card applications, intercompany agreements, purchase orders and supplier contracts (when delegation of authority requires FC involvement or approval)
- Preparation of year-end statutory financial statements
- Support the preparation of technical accounting memos where required
Qualifications + Skills
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, CPA, CA etc) with proven PQE
- Experience with IFRS and UK accounting standards
- Financial control experience in a large multinational or external audit background
- Strong familiarity with financial systems and financial reporting (D365 and SAC/BPC are preferred systems)
- Experience working with service centres and/or the media/advertising sector an advantage
- Strong influencing skills, pro-active, diligent, and thorough with the ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner
