THE ROLE
WiseEnergy is a trusted and established solar asset manager, offering all the services our clients require to manage and optimize large-scale solar plants, from development and construction phase, through to long-term operational asset management.
We require an experienced, passionate finance professional, for a 3-month contract, to support the finance team in producing financial statements for the entities in three portfolios located in the UK.
The role requires someone with significant experience in financial reporting, specifically under UK GAAP. The successful candidate will work alongside the core finance team and should have strong attention to details and be a good communicator with financial and non-financial stakeholders.
We have a hybrid working model between working from the London office and remotely. The finance team generally meet in the office two days per week. The hybrid arrangement is to be discussed and agreed with your line manager.
There is an expectation of consistency and accuracy of outputs, which will be subject to auditor scrutiny.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Statement Preparation
- Preparation of FRS 102 compliant financial statements for SPVs & HoldCos of three UK-based solar funds
- Set up financial statement templates with account production software: CaseWare
- Review of financial statements prepared by other finance team members
Audit: Pack Preparation and Review
- Prepare SPV and HoldCo audit packs and supporting documentation for each entity
- Review audit packs prepared by other finance team members
Audit: Management
- Assist the WiseEnergy audit team, from planning to audit completion
- Liaise with external auditors to address audit queries, including uploading of supporting documentation to auditors’ portal
- Liaise with external/internal business partners, 3rd party asset management service provider etc to collate information for the auditors
- Tracking and ensuring audit tasks are completed to agreed deadlines as per audit timetable
- Escalate issues to manager and support issue resolution through to the end
- Ensure all documents are stored in an orderly format in common shared drive
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Time management & prioritization skills - things can get a little hectic, so the ability to effectively manage yourself and your workload is critical
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (in English or/and other European languages) - you must be able to organize your thoughts in a way that others find clear and compelling. You will be expected to together well-written, grammatically correct emails and other communications. When communicating verbally – whether over the phone, on video calls, in person or in meetings – you will need to be articulate, warm and engaging
- Flexibility - being an effective team player means being flexible in your approach and open to getting involved with new things, even if they are not spelt out in your job description
- Intellectual Curiosity – Finance Management is a broad and nuanced field and we are looking for someone who is truly interested in our profession and has the intellectual curiosity to delve deep into topics and bring fresh ideas to the team
- IT Literacy - you need to be comfortable with IT systems and working with data (you should have at least intermediate-level excel)
- Delivery focus – it may sound obvious, but the ability to proactively churn through work at pace and deliver quality outputs really matters
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Significant experience in producing financial statements under FRS 102 (essential)
- ICAEW/ACCA qualification (essential)
- CaseWare (account production) or similar software experience (essential)
- Renewable energy experience (desirable)
- Fluent, advanced business level English (essential)
