Join us as a Financial Planning Adviser

  • For a client focused financial planning adviser professional, this is an opportunity to take on a key role with great exposure in Financial Planning here at Coutts
  • We’ll look to you to provide specialist regulated, holistic financial planning advice to our Coutts private banking clients
  • Our customers need their money to be well managed, and in Financial Planning, we provide the right information to help our customers make good decisions about protecting what matters most to them
  • You'll work from home some of the time, but you'll also spend at least three days a week working from the office and attend client meetings when necessary
What you'll do

In this client focused role, you’ll be making sure that our clients’ financial needs are met and that they receive an outstanding service as you provide thorough and comprehensive advice on our regulated financial planning products and services. You’ll be valued for your expertise on these, using it to upskill advisers to ensure they deliver a great client experience and maximise the effectiveness of our regulated private banking and financial planning client proposition.

Your role will also involve:

  • Delivering regulated holistic financial planning products to our Coutts private banking clients to help us to achieve our overall sustainable growth and profitability targets
  • Building effective relationships with private banking stakeholders to promote our core products and services
  • Developing and maintaining product documents, including sales guides, aide memoirs and user manuals, and delivering training to coverage teams and other key stakeholders
  • Providing guidance to coverage teams in respect of financial planning advice and regulated private banking products, including pensions, IHT planning, investment structuring and protection, particularly with larger and more complex deals
  • Providing end-to-end transaction support which balances the needs of our clients, commercial aspirations and broader stakeholder demands, including analysing large and complex transactions
The skills you'll need

We’re looking for someone who can bring strong knowledge and an understanding of regulated financial planning, ideally as an existing, practising and authorised financial planner with a minimum of 5 years current experience in giving financial planning advice. You'll be Level 6 qualified and have an active Statement of Professional Standing. You'll need to be advising on protection, investments, pensions and estate planning within your current role. Relationship building with our clients and stakeholders is key in this role, so we’ll need you to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as experience of building relationships with credit functions and banking communities at a local and regional level within a large organisation.  

As well as this, you’ll demonstrate:

  • Strong commercial acumen
  • An understanding of financial markets, including key drivers for changes in price volatility and investment products
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to simplify complex and conflicting tasks and policy positions, making sure that these are effectively managed and communicated
  • Experience of relevant policies, regulatory obligations and risk management of regulated private banking financial planning products
