Who we are looking for

State Street operates a global Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) program that is designed to meet its legal and regulatory requirements. We are looking for someone to join our London based Monitoring and Surveillance (“M&S”) team which is a key part of the Financial Crimes Compliance program. Monitoring and testing is conducted to detect potential breaches of regulatory obligations, corporate compliance standards, policies and procedures, and to monitor and test the effectiveness of existing controls to mitigate and manage money laundering and sanctions risks.

This role can be performed in a hybrid model, with 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

What you will be responsible for

As a Financial Crimes Compliance - Monitoring and Surveillance (“M&S”) Associate you will -

  • Assist with and contribute to the development of the EMEA M&S testing plan for relevant financial crime risks and ensure the risk assessment findings for EMEA (and local jurisdictions), management practices and FLOD/ SLOD controls informs the scope of testing.

  • Assist in conducting the M&S testing across specific Business Units and functions in line with requirements.

  • Communicate with relevant stakeholders to understand business processes, possible gaps, and potential AML & Sanctions compliance shortfalls.

  • Assist with AML and Sanctions M&S control reviews to comply with departmental methodologies and standards for planning, fieldwork and reporting.

  • Monitoring of open Compliance items that were opened as part of the M&S testing findings.

  • Assist other teams within UK FCC with any urgent tasks as and when required.

  • Work on ad-hoc projects/ tasks as assigned.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher level education (BTEC/ A-levels or above) or apprenticeship with a professional compliance qualification

  • Approx. 1+ year of experience working in a financial crimes, corporate compliance related role within financial services.
