About Incard

Incard’s mission is to build the financial operating system for entrepreneurs.

We are focused on creating a system where business banking, financial tools, and application logic are coordinated into a single control layer.

Through the app store, entrepreneurs and developers can build industry-specific functionality as their business evolves.

Role Purpose

The Financial Crime Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day operation of Incard's financial crime detection and investigation capability. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role covering transaction monitoring, alert investigation, SAR/DAML reporting, EDD, and typology development, working closely with the MLRO to ensure Incard's financial crime controls remain effective as the product suite and customer base evolve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the management of the transaction monitoring software tool, including alert configuration input, data quality issues, and case management.

  • Develop and maintain financial crime typologies on a continuous basis as the product suite evolves, feeding rule and scenario changes into the transaction monitoring system.

  • Work alerts through investigation, disposition, and escalation; propose threshold and rule tuning based on false positive trends.

  • Produce financial crime management information (MI) for the MLRO, and for the Risk and Compliance Committee (RCC) and Board as needed.

  • Investigate and escalate matters to the MLRO, and support Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) and Defence Against Money Laundering (DAML) reporting to the National Crime Agency (NCA), including tracking of reporting timeliness.

  • Act as the escalation point for onboarding cases requiring financial crime input, including adverse media, PEP, complex ownership structures, and sanctions nexus.

  • Review and conduct Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) cases; own EDD trigger criteria and refresh scheduling.

  • Own and maintain financial crime procedural manuals.

  • Maintain financial crime records, including SAR/DAML files, EDD files, and alert dispositions, in line with retention requirements.

  • Support ad hoc projects as required.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in a financial crime / AML operational role within a bank, EMI, payments firm, or other FCA-regulated financial services business.

  • Hands-on experience operating a transaction monitoring system, including alert investigation, tuning, and case management (e.g. Unit21 or equivalent).

  • Working knowledge of UK financial crime and AML regulation, including the Money Laundering Regulations 2017 and JMLSG guidance.

  • Practical experience preparing and submitting SARs/DAMLs to the NCA.

  • Experience conducting EDD, including adverse media, PEP, complex structures, and sanctions-related reviews.

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify typologies and trends from alert and case data.

  • Clear, concise written communication skills for MI reporting to senior stakeholders and committees.

  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g. ICA, ACAMS) is desirable but not essential.

Benefits:
  • Competitive cash-based compensation

  • Incard stock options

  • 25 days of paid time off per year, plus bank holidays and your birthday off

  • Global health insurance and unlimited paid sick leave
