About the role:

This role will be one of a small number of analysts reporting into the Financial Crime Risk & Control Manager. Risk & Control Analysts play a key role in assisting the FinCrime Ops leadership team with the management of risks and controls, with the help of control effectiveness testing and reporting.

We are looking for an applicant who has knowledge and experience of non-financial risk management lifecycle and frameworks. Along with experience of control monitoring and testing. 

By establishing a Risks and Controls focused team within FinCrime, we can achieve a real time assessment of our risks and controls to ensure our control environment is accurate, up to date and continually assessed in order to reflect our risk appetite and risk exposure. 

This role will play a key part in carrying out the testing of FinCrime ops controls in order to understand effectiveness. Supporting the Fin Crime Ops Risk manager in developing control testing plans which will complement other control assurance undertaken by 2LoD and Audit. 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Undertaking Control Effectiveness testing, in accordance with control testing plan, proactively engaging with control owners to and identify ways to which control effectiveness can be ascertained via testing.
  • Producing concise control testing reporting, summarising the overall outcomes of testing, clearly documenting findings, control testing effectiveness outcomes, recommendations and supporting the Risk & Control Manage by working with control owners to agree effective actions.
  • Recording Operational events and business issues as raised by the operational teams. You’ll work with the area raising the entry to ensure you can document a clear summary of the root cause, and whether there has been any control failure involved, identifying areas for control improvements and working with ops to agree actions.
  • Management of 2LoD & 3LoD reports, ensuring 1LoD management responses are collated and returned in time.
  • Ensuring all management actions are correctly linked to appropriate Risks and Controls documented in the GRC system. 
  • Forward planning, looking ahead to pre-empt any upcoming dates where extensions may be required and raising this.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for FinCrime Ops teams in matters relating to risk management, working with the Risk & Control manager you’ll regularly engage with Ops teams to share risk knowledge to encourage a risk aware culture.
  • Collating 1LoD Risk reporting as required.
Requirements
  • The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience of control effectiveness testing as well as practical understanding of non-financial risk management life cycle.
  • Experience of working within financial crime detection/ prevention either in first or second line of defence would be highly advantageous but if this isn’t you, don’t worry as on the job learning will be provided, along with the opportunity to study external training qualifications.
  • Good communication skills with great attention to detail.
  • Competent in Google Suite products such as Docs and Sheets
