We have a bright and modern office which you can work from throughout the week and 3 core office days per week (Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday) where the whole team comes together.

About the role 

The Financial Controller is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and control of Lantum’s financial operations and reporting. This role owns the end-to-end finance function below CFO level, ensuring high-quality management reporting, strong financial controls, and clear cashflow visibility to support decision-making across the business.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You’ll lead the day-to-day finance team, drive continuous improvement across processes and systems, and act as a trusted finance partner to senior leadership. You’ll combine operational delivery with accountability for financial performance, governance, and team development.

Responsibilities

Financial reporting & controls

  • Own and sign off accurate, timely monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, and cashflow)
  • Lead the month-end close process, including journals, reconciliations, and review of team outputs
  • Own and continuously improve financial controls across all finance processes.
  • Lead VAT, tax, statutory reporting, audit, and R&D tax credit processes end-to-end, coordinating with external advisors and auditors

Cash & working capital

  • Own rolling cashflow forecasting and daily cash visibility, proactively identifying and escalating risks
  • Lead AP and AR functions, strengthening controls, improving collections, and reducing aged debt
  • Own banking relationships, mandates, payment controls, and cash governance

Team leadership

  • Line manage, coach, and performance-manage the finance team, setting clear expectations and standards
  • Review work produced by the team to ensure accuracy, consistency, and high-quality delivery
  • Build a high-performing, well-documented, and resilient finance function

Process, systems & improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement across finance processes, reporting, and ways of working
  • Lead finance system upgrades, automation initiatives, and tooling improvements
  • Own ad hoc financial projects, reporting enhancements, and process rollouts

Commercial & stakeholder support

  • Partner with the commercial team on framework reporting, tenders, and financial inputs
  • Act as a trusted finance partner to senior leaders, providing clear insight and recommendations to support decision-making

Requirements

About you

We’re looking for someone who brings strong ownership, sound judgement, and a collaborative leadership style

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Proven experience owning the finance function in a scaling or complex organisation.
  • Strong background in management accounts, controls, audit, and compliance.
  • Experience leading, developing, and performance-managing finance team members.
  • Comfortable balancing hands-on operational work with higher-level analysis and decision support.
  • Strong systems mindset, with experience driving process improvement and automation.
  • High attention to detail, proactive problem-solver, and confident communicator.
  • Experience in SaaS, healthcare, or regulated environments is a plus.
