UNIQLO is a leading brand of the Fast Retailing Group, one of the largest apparel retailers in the world. UNIQLO respects the individuality and lifestyle of all customers and takes pride in creating high‑quality, long‑lasting, innovative clothing at an affordable price.
As part of the Fast Retailing portfolio, Theory also represents a key pillar of the Group, an internationally recognised contemporary brand known for its modern approach to elevated essentials, precisely tailored silhouettes, and high‑quality fabrics, with a strong global omnichannel presence.
We are currently recruiting for a Financial Accountant to become a key member of our team, supporting both UNIQLO and Theory, based in our London offices with a hybrid working model. This role will take full ownership of a designated European market and be responsible for ensuring that financial records are maintained in a timely and accurate manner, and that the company meets its legal and statutory obligations. You will work closely with the wider finance team and the business, including store managers and head office teams.
This is an opportunity for someone with strong technical accounting expertise and a commercial mindset, who is experienced in working across multiple brands and systems within a complex, international environment. You will take ownership of Accounting, Financial Reporting, and Legal, Statutory & Administrative responsibilities, with the ability to manage these areas independently.
You will be responsible for preparing and reviewing monthly reporting and IFRS deliverables, playing a pivotal role in the month‑end close, balance sheet and P&L reviews, and ensuring full statutory compliance. The role requires a high level of ownership and accountability to ensure that financial records are maintained accurately and in line with all legal and regulatory requirements across entities.
This position also offers the opportunity to build strong relationships across the business and drive continuous improvement in a dynamic, fast‑paced retail environment within a global organisation.
What you will be responsible for:
- Deliver IFRS reporting, including quarterly and annual disclosures, and support J‑SOX controls
- Lead month‑end close activities, including journals, reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, payroll, and intercompany transactions
- Own balance sheet integrity for designated entities, including monthly reconciliations and IFRS 16 lease accounting
- Drive P&L reviews, balance sheet analysis, and partner with Corporate Planning to provide insight and identify cost‑saving opportunities
- Prepare and present monthly reporting packs and key financial insights to senior stakeholders
- Take ownership of statutory and compliance requirements, including VAT returns, HMRC reporting, Companies House filings, and coordination with auditors and advisors
- Support statutory accounts preparation, variance analysis, and ad hoc financial reporting
- Maintain oversight of contracts and financial records, support insurance renewals, and perform margin and commercial analysis
- Build strong relationships across finance, stores, and head office, working cross‑functionally across UNIQLO and Theory entities in a fast‑paced, international environment
What we are looking for:
- Qualified Accountant or at the final stage of ACCA or ACA qualification (or equivalent)
- Retail experience is desirable; however, practical IFRS experience is preferred
- Expert knowledge of balance sheet and P&L account classifications
- Experience working with outsourced operations would be beneficial
- Highly computer literate, with advanced Excel skills
- Fluent in English; additional European languages are a plus
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload to meet tight deadlines
- Proactive and able to adapt easily to change
What we offer
- 26 days holiday + 8 bank holidays, pro rata
- 30% staff Discount
- Employee Assistance Programme
- Private Pension Scheme
- Performance-based bonus scheme
- Complimentary tea and coffee
- Hybrid working model: 2 days remote, 3 days office-based
- Social events throughout the year
- Seasonal sample sales
- Volunteer Day – twice a year
- Two Prime office locations with easy access to shops, restaurants...
