So, who are we?

Hello, we’re IG Group. We are an FTSE250 FinTech company who run mobile, web and desktop platforms that help our clients trade stocks & shares, leveraged products, Futures & Options and Crypto.

We are ambitious. Over 340,000 people already use our platforms. We’re global with offices in 18 countries and products in 16 regions. We’re hungry to move faster, ship better products for our customers and grow our user base. We believe in high autonomy, and we want people who are looking to do things differently in order to create better experiences for our customers.

We work in cross-functional teams and are laser-focused on increasing the number of active clients we serve to drive sustainable growth.

Your team

The Group Finance department within IG is a team of global professional accountants who are independent thinkers.

We support the business's growth through our commitment to the highest standard of financial data accuracy delivered via best practice governance and controls. We deliver this by exercising our accounting and financial knowledge to support stakeholders in making better informed decisions through strategic insights, whilst adhering to a high standard of conduct through our professional integrity.

This role will be part of the UK Financial Control team, reporting to the UK Financial Controller. The UK Financial Control team are key to achieving a robust financial control environment to ensure safeguarding of company and client assets, and accuracy and completeness of financial and regulatory reporting.

Your role in the Team’s Success

The UK Financial Control team is responsible for the financial integrity of IG Group's UK-regulated entities. The most prominent entities are IG Markets Limited, IG Index Limited and IG Trading and Investments Limited. We deliver accurate, timely financial reporting, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and act as a trusted partner to the wider Finance function and the business. It's a team where technical excellence, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities really matter.

What you'll do:
  • Responsibility for the day-to-day review of financial records and supporting the oversight of the systems, processes, and controls over financial reporting for UK legal entities.

  • Identify, escalate, and support the resolution of financial control issues through the appropriate channels.

  • Being a key driver of the month-end close process for the UK entities and providing support for the signing off of the UK entities in HFM in line with the Group timetable, to enable efficient and effective management reporting.

  • Provide support on the preparation of statutory accounts, financial management packs, client money-related reporting, regulatory financial reporting and tax reporting (including provision of information for tax returns).

  • Coordinate the quarterly intercompany settlement process for the UK entities.

  • Liaise with the wider finance team and other internal stakeholders in the business to understand Group processes and take responsibility for specific processes as required.

  • Build an understanding and contribute to the preparation of client money-related policies and controls.

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, effectively present ideas and turn them into practical actions.

  • Participate in ad hoc projects, such as supporting new system implementations and evaluating the financial control implications of business initiatives.

What you'll need
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) with 2–5 years of post-qualification experience.

  • Demonstrable experience in a financial control, reporting, or statutory accounting role, ideally within financial services or another regulated industry.

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including practical experience with IFRS and FRS 101 financial statement preparation.

  • Experience working with external auditors, with the confidence to manage queries and explain technical positions clearly.

  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting in a financial services context (e.g. CASS, MIFIDPRU, ICARA, or similar frameworks) is desirable.

  • Excel skills and experience with SUN and/or HFM would be advantageous.

  • Excellent attention to detail combined with the ability to work at pace and manage competing deadlines during peak periods such as month-end and year-end.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across teams.

We try to take a thoughtful approach to our ways of working as a company. We follow a hybrid working model with 3 days in the office – which we think balances the need to collaborate effectively and connect with each other.
