The Role:

CoMind is establishing a world class Finance function to support the growth of the business. We are seeking a Finance Manager to oversee the day to day accounting functions and regular reporting requirements. The role will report into the CFO and will work alongside external accounting and tax providers. Please note that this role requires 4 days per week in the office.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee UK & US bookkeeping in Xero

  • Ensure timely month-end processes and consolidation (Xero, Excel) working with an external provider

  • Prepare financial information and commentaries for monthly and quarterly management and board reports

  • Support CFO with budgeting, long term forecasting and managing actual spend against budget

  • Manage purchase order and invoice processing in Dext and ApprovalMax (linked to Xero)

  • Process timely supplier payments via online banking

  • Ensure staff expenses are correctly submitted, approved and settled on time

  • Support UK and US payroll processes with CoMind’s People team and external payroll bureaux

  • Support corporation tax / VAT returns and R&D tax credit claims

  • Support year end processes and external audits

  • Help evaluate, build, improve and monitor financial processes and practices to support the growth of the business.

Skills & Experience:
  • Experience working in-house for a startup, or similarly fast-paced company

  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA, etc.)

  • 5+ years professional accounting experience, including at least 2 years in an operational role (previous US exposure an advantage)

  • Experience of accounting procedures including Purchase Orders, customer and supplier invoices, bank payments, fixed and current asset schedules, VAT, payroll

  • Experience of month / year end close procedures and reporting, consolidations, FX, HMRC payroll and VAT reports, and internal and external audits

  • Familiarity with Xero, Dext and ApprovalMax or similar packages

  • Experience in managing outsourced finance function suppliers, e.g. bookkeeping, VAT, payroll.
