The Finance Manager will be responsible for supporting the Finance Operations function within the Arch insurance International entities.  The role will focus on supporting the monthly operating expense reporting process and assisting with providing data in respect of expense schedules for key departments, including IT and Facilities.  It will also cover the booking of Investment portfolio transactions and providing some Accounts Payable cover.

The role will report to the Head of Finance Operations, but will have direct supervision over 2 part qualified accountants based in London, as well as liaising with the wider Finance Operations team, based in London and Manchester, and the offshore team based in the Philippines.

Key tasks and responsibilities will include the following:

  • Monthly Expense booking (to include accruals, prepayments, fixed assets etc)

  • Provide monthly Expense schedules for significant expenses (to include IT, Facilities, Legal, Consultants etc)

  • Monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations

  • Intercompany invoicing

  • Intercompany bookings from Group companies

  • Monthly booking of Investment portfolio transactions (using Clearwater)

  • Process improvements arising from the recent implementation of Workday ERP

  • Involvement in Accounts Payable process

  • Involvement in Concur employee expense reclaim process

  • Supervise two members of staff

  • Preparation of sections of Board and Committee papers

  • ONS Returns

  • Project work

  • Ad hoc requests and any other duties, as required

Role Requirements and Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Excel

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Strong time management and organisational skills with a proven ability to consistently meet deadlines

  • Ability to work collaboratively with others within the Finance department and across the Company and wider Group

  • Proficient with general ledger applications and relevant Finance Systems (e.g. Workday)

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect and organise significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

Qualifications and Experience

  • A recognised accounting qualification plus at least 5 years related experience
