About the role

We are seeking a CIMA/ACCA accountant (qualified by experience also considered) with a strong background in financial planning and commercial finance. The ideal candidate will possess robust commercial acumen and demonstrate key skills in analytical thinking, excellent communication, and effective problem-solving. This is a newly created role within the commercial finance function reporting into the Head of FP&A.  

Responsibilities

The requirements, responsibilities and duties of the role will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support the business in achieving ambitious revenue and growth targets through acting as true Finance Business Partner 
  • Produce financial reports for Steering Groups, Executive Committees and the Board, ensuring accuracy in information, identifying areas of financial risk, and generating actionable business insights to non-finance stakeholders 
  • Oversee revenue and cost forecasting, highlighting key drivers of variance impacting business performance and identifying areas of opportunity to improve performance 
  • Monitor and report on key business metrics and performance, while owning the business KPI reporting to provide comprehensive analysis and updates on performance indicators 
  • Build, develop and maintain financial models to support business planning and decision-making 
  • Lead the the annual budgets and mid-year forecasting process with each of CF's business practices. 
  • Ensure improved profitability through precise monitoring of gross margins across fee earners, fee tables, practices, projects and more  
  • Work closely with the Head of FP&A and CPO to translate financial data into practical business recommendations and use performance metrics to help drive strategy and improve outcomes 
  • Develop complex financial models to support budgeting, scenario planning, and performance reviews 
  • Use advanced Excel capabilities to streamline reporting and analysis 
Requirements

Mandatory 

  • Proven background in financial planning and delivering insights that support business units to improve performance 
  • High proficiency in financial modelling and Excel, including advanced functions 
  • Experience working closely with fee earners within professional services  
  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic mindset with the ability to influence decisions and improve business performance 
  • Collaborative approach to problem solving, working with teams across the business to understand performance drivers 
  • CIMA/ ACCA qualified, or with sufficient experience in financial business partnering, to understand technical financial concepts

Flexible Working 

We operate a hybrid-working policy; corporate team members need to be physically together for a minimum of 4 days a week between core office hours of 10am-4pm. Travel to other CF offices in the UK may be required as and when established. In addition, for up to four weeks a year each member of staff can work entirely virtually.
