Position Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineering Capabilities Finance Business Partner within the Engineering, Technology & Safety Finance team. This is a finance delivery leadership role for someone who can take complex, cross-functional financial challenges and turn them into implemented, sustainable outcomes.

What you will be doing:

Reporting to the VP Finance, Engineering Portfolio, Programme Management, Strategy & Capabilities, you will act as a Finance Delivery Lead across Engineering Capabilities. You will establish effective governance, provide early visibility of risks and opportunities, and drive complex financial initiatives through to implementation and benefit realisation to maximise value from investment and resources.

Responsibilities include:

  • Partner Engineering Capability leaders to support planning, forecasting, performance management and strategic decision-making.
  • Establish governance and early-warning mechanisms to ensure risks, opportunities and key decisions are identified and escalated appropriately.
  • Lead the development and delivery of engineering capital investment, business cases and strategic initiatives.
  • Drive affordability, productivity, and efficiency opportunities through to implementation and benefit realisation.
  • Lead changes to cost rates, charging methodologies and other key financial processes.
  • Coordinate complex cross-functional activities across Engineering, Finance and divisional stakeholders, driving actions to closure.
  • Support portfolio reviews and investment governance forums, providing clear analysis and recommendations.
  • Improve financial processes, reporting and ways of working, simplifying where possible and embedding best practice.
  • Act as the Finance Business Partner for Test & Experimental Engineering, leading forecasting, investment planning and risk and opportunity management across a £200m+ annual spend portfolio.

Position qualifications:

  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g. CIMA, ACA, ACCA).
  • Experience in finance business partnering, investment appraisal or a related finance leadership role.
  • A track record of leading complex cross-functional initiatives and delivering sustainable business outcomes.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Experience developing and implementing business cases, investment proposals or strategic initiatives.
  • The ability to establish effective governance, manage ambiguity and drive actions through to completion.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • A proactive and resilient approach with a focus on delivery.
