Genomics aims to help people live longer, healthier lives in two ways: super-charging drug discovery and development for novel treatments with our AI-enabled advanced genetic analytics platform, and by helping people understand their personal risk of common chronic diseases through polygenic risk scores - giving doctors and health systems the chance to get the right people into the right prevention, screening and treatment programmes at the right time.

A Day in the Life

The Finance Associate will be responsible for all receivable and payable data entries across multiple geographies and currencies, managing employee expenses and ensuring all transactions are correctly coded. Act as the main point of contact for all finance platform queries - including accounting system, employee expenses and banking.

The Finance Associate will also play an important part in supporting the team on collating data for our R&D tax credit calculations, financial audits, the preparation of schedules during month-end close (accruals, prepayments, leasing, inventory, capex, loan note, fx, etc.) and assisting with the preparation of monthly management reports. Assist with maintaining compliance with US and UK requirements, such as HMRC and IRS.

We are in a new commercial phase in the business and expanding our functions outside of the UK so we are looking for someone who wants to grow and develop in this role and become familiar with finance across different geographies. A drive for continual efficiency, quality, and process improvements across all Finance team processes is necessary, as well as excellent attention to detail

Key Accountabilities
  • Maintain the financial accounting system with up to date and accurate data; maintain company travel platform; Maintain and update company wide approval system

  • Ensure expense claims are in line with policy and reviewed, approved and paid in a timely manner

  • Ensure customer invoices are raised promptly and customers are supported in delivering payment when due

  • Ensure suppliers are paid in line with contracted payment terms

  • Preparation of month-end schedules and journals

  • Completion of balance sheet reconciliations on a quarterly basis

  • Banking platform management including transfers, investments, payments and refunds; tracking and management of banking reconciliations

  • Compliance requirements such as ONS Surveys, and assistance with US tax matters

  • Continued process improvement identification

Technical / professional qualifications:

  • Strong analytical (excel, Google Sheets) skills and experience working with large datasets

  • Studying towards or interested in CIMA/ ACCA / ACA

  • Undergraduate degree with at least a 2:1
