The Financial & Strategic Investors Group (FSIG) is transforming BlackRock’s global relationships with large asset owners such as insurers, banks and sovereign wealth funds by supporting their evolving investment, portfolio, and business needs. Today, FSIG comprises three areas: the Global Financial Institutions Group (FIG), Insurance Solutions, and Financial Markets Advisory (FMA). FMA delivers a range of capital markets, balance sheet management, and risk & analytics advice to banks, insurance companies and official institutions. FIG is the world's leading insurance asset management business. Insurance Solutions is an insurance specialist, product agnostic investment strategy and structuring team.

Position overview

The COO team is responsible for articulating and executing the strategic direction of FSIG and leading the operating cadence of the business. The team supports leadership to develop a deep understanding of our business performance and competitive landscape, communicate the story of the business to internal and external constituencies, build and execute on business and resourcing plans, and lead a range of initiatives to shape the forward trajectory of FSIG.

We are seeking a high-energy, self-motivated Associate excited to work in a fluid, fast-paced environment. Given the broad range of projects, the candidate should feel comfortable working with various stakeholder teams and engaging across functional areas. The ideal candidate must deeply understand the strategic initiatives, business financials, and provide strategic and operational support - including project management, supporting critical day-to-day business processes, resource allocation, talent practices, culture and communication initiatives. Effective execution and exceptional attention to detail are critical.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Strategic planning and tracking: Collaborate with key stakeholders across the business in objective setting, establishing and tracking business KPIs, supporting the budgeting and forecasting processes, and driving communications

  • Team Governance: Organize and drive key team meetings, such as Leadership Meetings, Town Halls, Offsites, and weekly team updates

  • Talent management & communications: In partnership with HR and FSIG executive team, create and embed a global talent management and communications model that enables FSIG to recruit, retain, and develop high performing, engaged people; manage processes that enable FSIG to onboard and train people and monitor their employee engagement effectively and at scale

  • Business partnership: Drive further integration of FSIG with partner teams across COO network, Finance, HR, L&C, RQA, T&O, investments, and Aladdin to support FSIG's strategic and risk management agenda

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree, 2+ years of experience

  • Highly innovative with a commercial outlook – always looking for ways to improve and enhance delivery, exuding a “can-do” attitude

  • Excellent project management skills covering project set-up through execution, implementation and closeout, with a strong orientation towards detail and an ability to recognize and solve problems.

  • Self-motivated, flexible and proactive team player willing to go the extra mile every time

  • Ability to work efficiently in a very fast-paced environment seeking to learn and improve as you go

  • Strong financial and quantitative abilities, including attention to detail and ability to work with large quantities of different data to identify and present trends and information to executive leadership

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally across geographies and work with multiple stakeholders

  • Mature outlook with the ability to handle highly sensitive data in a discrete manner

  • Superb organization, time and project management skills with a proven ability to prioritize and ability to function effectively under tight deadlines and constraints

  • Experience in roles with a business analysis focus is useful as is exposure to complex, matrixed financial management and investment management organizations

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$105,000.00 - USD$137,500.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.

Our hybrid work model

BlackRock’s hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration and apprenticeship that enriches the experience of our employees, while supporting flexibility for all. Employees are currently required to work at least 4 days in the office per week, with the flexibility to work from home 1 day a week. Some business groups may require more time in the office due to their roles and responsibilities.
