Country: United Kingdom

Interested in part-time, job-share or flexible working? We want to talk to you!

Join our community.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Economic Crime Policy & Complex Advisory Team. The team split their time between external engagement and providing advice on complex Economic Crime policy.

You’ll represent Santander externally on industry, regulatory and government forums to help inform the Bank’s UK policy and provide feedback for the team and wider colleagues to inform policy development.

You’ll monitor and interpret the financial crime regulatory environment in which the bank operates, the levers that drive change by performing effective horizon scanning and assessing the impact on the business and implications on policy.

If you’ve experience in a similar role, this could be a great opportunity to develop your career.

The difference you’ll make:

  • Representing the bank externally on all economic crime policy matters including attending in-person meetings in London with government departments, regulators and industry colleagues

  • Ensuring all relevant senior managers are fully briefed for all their external engagements and providing readouts to key internal stakeholders

  • Performing effective horizon scanning for Financial Crime (FC) matters and advising relevant stakeholders on current or upcoming external developments

  • Advising on cross cutting policy matters (including Country Risk) and identifying the synergies between all the FC disciplines

  • Producing bespoke guidance or risk reports and briefing senior stakeholders on these as necessary

  • Identifying areas for innovation using internal and external strategic engagement, providing advice to the Economic Crime Management Team as appropriate

What you’ll bring:

These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:

  • Proven experience of creating and advising on policy within Financial Services, Government, Civil Service or Regulators

  • Working knowledge and understanding of regulatory framework of UK financial services including industry trends and best practice

  • Broad understanding of the financial crime industry and the political and economic environment

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to network effectively to influence management and external parties

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • Meticulous attention to detail

  • In depth understanding of Fraud regulations and policy

  • Excellent analytical and interpretation skills

  • Demonstrable experience of developing relations with senior internal and external stakeholders

What else you need to know:

This role is based in Milton Keynes.

We want our people to thrive at work and home, and also be able to deliver the best outcomes for our customers and to help each other develop. To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 12 days per month (pro-rata for part-time roles).

If you apply for this role, it’s important you consider your travelling distance, time and cost from your home to the office location. We’re happy to discuss specific working patterns and arrangement within this hybrid approach during the recruitment process.
If you’re interested in this role but with part time hours or a job-share we would still love to hear from you and discuss these.
